Thanks guys.
I'm wondering again whether OR's are on some kind of commission/bonus for each IPA they set up, does anyone know??
Hi Claire,
There's not a commission or bonus in the way that a double glazing salesman gets paid a commission, but there are targets to be met for the imposition of IPA's, and individual O.R's performance will be measured against those targets.

This isn't an April fools (unfortunately)
A manager from the OR office has called this morning re my letter (which I sent yesterday). She has told me to send a copy of my payslip to them at the end of April so that they can see my take home pay. She also went through a few things on thy SOA - she is sending me details soon so I'll post again. She basically said that they do not allow for car and household maintenance - this has to come from your surplus after an IPA. She also said that Internet would not be allowed. She said essential journeys should be no more than £72 per month. Groceries no more than £163 per month. Hair no more than £10 per month. She has asked me to supply written evidence of all of the things I have included above. She has told me I am looking at an IPA of £171.00I said I had written the letter as the woman I was speaking to the other day didn't seem to understand that I was asking why my IPA was set at £50 the first time and then again after the review.
I'm really annoyed - if they think I've got enough to give them £171, then why aren't they chasing me for that??? Seems to me that they don't really have a leg to stand on so they are trying to get me to agree to £50.00 so that I feel that I've got a good deal - better than nothing from their end isn't it.
The more I think about this the more mad it's making me    The woman I spoke to today was quite nice, explained everything to me, but I wonder how many people would now feel bullied into paying £50 just so that they don't get a higher IPA? When realistically they can't afford it?
mad mad MAD!!!!! :mad:Sometimes you have to go throughthe rain to get to therainbow0 -
Oh and just wanted to add (sorry I'm still in rant mode) why the hell has someone else, when I went bankrupt, not said then that these things aren't allowed?? Why has someone looked at my IPOQ and not disallowed these things??
I'm really really mad - thinking of going to see a solicitor once I get the paperwork.Sometimes you have to go throughthe rain to get to therainbow0 -
That's crazy! How can they agree £200 a few months ago for your household expenditure and then cut it to 163. This is totally unreasonable - prices have been going up not down!
I think you should be prepared to fight your corner...BCSC Member 70:j

I am I really REALLY am now. I think I was just worried before about everything, not really sure why I mean whats the worse that can happen?? I'm going to wait until the paperwork comes and see exactly what she puts down is allowed and see how they work that out, I mean £72 per month for essential journeys?? If I work far enough away to justify spending what I spend on petrol, and I do, then how can they say Im only allowed £72? How can anyone even measure what essential journeys cost?? Everyones different!!
I am going to see a solicitor I think, even if it means paying, I'm not going to be bullied into paying something that I dont agree with. I really think this is worth fighting for, and I've come this far so I'm certainly not going to give up now.
Incidentally, does anyone know what will happen if they set the IPA at £50 and I refuse to pay? I'm assuming this would mean going to court and a possible IPO???Sometimes you have to go throughthe rain to get to therainbow0 -
I guess if you did not agree an IPA with your OR the next step would be to enforce one through the courts, shouldnt think it would get that far if you can support the figures that are indispute.......................... sorry to hear this is still going on CLaire, but you have to stand for what you feel is right, who else better to judge whether you can manage on the allowances they set , other than you!!! Good luck, and try and not let it stress you out too much0

I know, it makes me so angry. I feel that if it did go to court I'd have a good case to argue. I hate these "guidelines" they keep banging on about as well. I mean for one we're all different with different circumstances so I don't even know why they use them, they should just assess each person on their own particualr case. Also, I wonder when the last time these guidelines were looked atDo they not realise that the price of just about everything has gone up recently? Rent, council tax, water, electricity, TV licence, petrol, food?? Do they reassess the guidelines every year?? I very much doubt it because £72 wouldnt even fill my cars tank up twice over with petrol, and I only drive a 1.1l car!
I'm so angry about all of this, thought I would have calmed down by now but I haven't, I just want to ring them back and scream at them.
Just goes to show that bankruptcy isn't always the easy way out that a lot of people seem to think it is :rolleyes:Sometimes you have to go throughthe rain to get to therainbow0 -
I think you have a good argument, weren't you told at interview that there would not be an IPA? Appreciate figures have changed a few times since then with more IPOQ's, but guess they have stayed fundamentally the same?0
