But then England = the uk to many Americans.

    How sad.
This is very pedantic of you and I know calling someone sad in Britain is an insult. Why are you insulting me? Also FYI I know the UK very well, a lot better than you do in fact, because Ireland isn't even in the UK it is Northern Ireland which is.

I have been chuckling at that comment for the past 5 minutes! :rotfl::rotfl:

    The offside rule is something to do with defenders and football (or what you'd call soccer). I'm not familiar with football as I don't follow it but the link below should explain it;

Style of British foreplay, fantastic!:laugh::laugh:
OMG Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo :o how embarrassing :o by football you mean soccer? And who are a popular soccer team? If I adopt a soccer team and know the offside rule he will be impressed right?

Yes I do mean soccer, and like me he might not follow football/soccer. To be honist if an American lady started talking to me about football it would bore the pants off me.

It's like myself approaching an American lady I quite fancied and going into the intricacies of clay pigeon shooting and gun ownership. Just because half the country owns a firearm and shooting is popular doesn't mean that the lady in question is interested in the sport.

Talk to him and gauge his interests, if he does like football then try not to be smart and sound like the computer on Grandstand on a Saturday afternoon by wheeling off team names randomly. Ask him what team he supports, how they're doing and what league they're in. That way it keeps the conversation going and it would appear that you're genuinley interested in his interest. Same goes for any sport/hobby he has a passion for, don't bother researching it, ask him! :)

British men are rubbish when it comes to actually saying something to someone they fancy, so if you ask him out, if he says no, you know he's not into you. If he says yes, he either is, or can be persuaded.
How old are you if you're five years older?

Also, I've found that all of the british men I know are 16 years old in the head. So be careful because they just don't grow up.

Look how eloquent you wrote this :o this is what I mean by how classy Brits are! If this was an American guy he would have just said "hey baby can I touch your butt"! The day a man opens a door for me or helps me put my coat on, is the day I have a date with a Brit because only British men know how to treat a woman right.

Ask him for coffee? What if he likes tea? I can't think of a place around here which sells tea...

If any man of any nationality whatsoever suggested 'touching my butt' he would get a smack round the kisser. Even at my age. That almost constitutes sexual harassment nowadays. He can touch my butt if and when our relationship has progressed to a fairly advanced level.

It's not so common now to have your coat held for you to put on. This happened in a restaurant once when DH and I had stopped for lunch having been on the way to buy a car, and 2 ladies at a neighbouring table commented on how nice it was to see DH do this and how rare it is now. But then DH and I are of a different generation. It's a difficult line for men to walk nowadays. We demand our independence, don't come with the 'there there don't worry your pretty little head' line (grrrr!) but we do still like those polite little touches.

Oh, and DH could probably quote the 'offside rule' if you want it, but he has no interest in soccer or any other form of football. Not all men have!

    Happy St George's Day!

Winchester was the ancient capital of England before the Norman Conquest. One of my all-time favourite men had his capital there, the only one of our kings ever to be called 'the Great'. Alfred. You might like a book by a man who has lived in your country for a long time, Bernard Cornwell. It's called 'The Last Kingdom'. Wessex, Alfred's kingdom, was the only one out of the 4 kingdoms not to fall to the Danes (Vikings). There's a big statue of Alfred in the centre of Winchester and it's a lovely city.

What are you talking about, OP said London. Pointless.

Also OP, British guys love leaping to the defence of someone :D

and to BigAunty...maybe your friend was the problem. Being beautiful doesn't automatically make you awesome in bed. Great s-e-x takes two, though occasionally you can rock it alone :D

Being an anglophile is awesome. England and all things British are just so much better. I even buy British snacks and candy off of world market. Those jaffa cakes are to die for and I even love marmite! You also have the most healthiest snacks I've ever seen. UK TV is so awesome and you do comedy and drama like nobody else. The royal family, castles, talented musicians, world renowned authors. You Brits have so much to be desired, I could make this list 10 pages long.

Wales is even better! DIL loved it, especially that the landscape seems to change in, what to her, is short distances!

And ancient pubs. And hearing people speak Welsh.
