    Hi mit
Just done the new uniform and shoes bit so know exactly what you mean:eek: .
Already bought the stationery/tights/school bag etc so at least that saved a few quid. This is DD's last year at high school so I suppose I should enjoy "only" having to pay for uniform. By all acounts from friends once their kids started college they wanted new clothes all the time:eek:  .
Think I'd better start saving now:rotfl:

  • oh gawd. Well we can only hope they will be right studenty types and like the second hand shops etc. :rotfl: . All these years trying to keep them nice and then hoping they will be like minks at college.:rotfl:

Get them in training now to be slightly 'alternative'. A couple of black t-shirts, a skintight pair of jeans, some denim shorts with leggings, and a pair of suede calf-length boots pretty much saw me through college. Although after two summers those boots could have walked on their own accord :D

DD is a girly girl too. We have anxiety and stress here whenever they have a non uniform day at school. Takes her forever to sort out what to wear, hair make up etc. Dreading when this is a daily event:eek:
Boys (i have 3 ) are so much easier to sort out. don't know about the naked look though MIT:rotfl:

Well I do still have a pair of thigh-length Biba boots which I bought when I was 18 (I'm now 33). But they do only get worn for special occasions - and never out of the house:rotfl: But unfortunately I do much much better now - hence the debt and lack of wardrobe space:o .

Admittedly I was 'rock-chick' rather than 'girly girly' but the hair and make-up every morning could be quite traumatic (I'd generally have the whole make-up counter plastered all over my face!).

Sophiesmum. I have the same problem with DD on non uniform days. Was a nightmare today getting her uniform. She is going into 2nd year and style is paramount. Skirt is more like a belt (much longer than the one she wanted though) short cardy. wanted shorts !!!. Face was tripping her....but too bad.
Really looking forward to the yearly fight over the boots !!!! She always wants high heels. We live in Scotland for gawds sake, she needs them for the snow !! Thank goodness nice sensible shoes are in style this year. Off to bed now nighty night x

We still have to do the school uniform shopping this year - I have managed to pick up a few cheapy bits in the sales that will do, but the bulk of it needs buying. Better get started it seems!!

At least you can shop for school uniform - we're in the process of moving house out of the area, and as we haven't exchanged yet - I can't put them on a waiting list for a school  so no point in buying uniform as I don't know what colours to get  as they haven't got a place for sept - I'm not stressed - honestly :o who am I kidding - is it too early for wine

On the plus side, when we do move we can clear most of our debts and maybe be left with £6k - £8k so we'll be aiming to have this cleared by Christmas next year :j (sooner if I have my way!)
Proud to be dealing with our debts - We WANT to be debt free DEC 09
