Hiya MIT and All,
Sorry not been around for a long time. Been so busy in life, then I have had bad news about my mum being diagnosed with Acute Leukemia.
She has been ill since early Sept when the docs kept treating her for mouth/gum disease  .
Anyway she is in The Christy at Manchester and being very well looked after.
My dad is with her all the time and she is progressing very well.
Hopefully she can come home in a few weeks once her immune system has been rebuilt.
Bye for now

Hi Binnie. Nice to hear from you again. Sorry to hear about your mum. I hope she feels better soon. I'm sure she will. Funny how the tables get turned huh? We worry about them now.
Not much money saving going on here still unfortunately but I am trying my best. Lunar I just found the pics. What a smasher!! Love the wee rosebud mouth and mum looks grand. Hope you are well x

Not much money saving going on in this house I'm afraid.
Telly went caput so had to go and buy a new one.
Car had to have work done on it. Ceiling in bedroom went all mouldy as it leaked in through roof tiles and insurance won't pay out.
Easy come, easy go eh?

Binnie that happened to me too with my roof and I had to pay out myself. I had no idea that the insurance company might say no to a claim fro a leaky roof and I was stunned that I had to pay it myself as I had assumed I had cover for it. Very annoying  . I have had a right busy weekend. Had to buy DD an outfit yesterday for the party we were at last night then had myself and 3 kids to sort out with drinks all night  . Spent a fortune. Kids can fair knock it back huh? I also had to get a taxi for the first time in ages and again was shocked at the cost. We had a blast though and kids are getting that much older so they really had fun too. Been busy working on house all day as it was a right minging mess. I have seen a house that is perfect for me. It has 4 bedrooms and is on at a fixed price at the mo for a quick sale. It needs loads of work but just things like new bathrooms and a kitchen. Would manage to do the whole lot for < £15k. Thing is that when the market picks up again these houses go for about £40k more than the asking price just now so I could potentially make a killing ! I have about £15k in this house just now and that could be my deposit meaning that my actual mortgage would be similar to what I have now. I would just have to borrow the money for the upgrading.Going to get an estate agent in to look at mine and see what I can realistically expect in this climate.
Going to get my head down now and get on with my assignment which is due in on Friday. Hope everyone is well.5 Year plan. April 2020 to June 2025- CC and mortgage free by time I'm 60

Evening all. Not been on for a couple of days now. Funny how I dont come near here when I am spending lol. Hmm not really funny tbh as I dont want to spend anything. Been buying for Christmas though. Have most of dd's stuff bought but still have a few things to get ds and a few others to buy for. I have a 50th birthday tomorroa and a ceilidh to go to on Saturday night. Won't cost too much though as I am taking the car to both nights.
I went to see a house today. It is cheap cheap cheap!! Some poor sod has been reposessed and it is on the market at a reduced price. Needs work done but nothing more than cosmetic. I really liked it. Has 4 bedrooms and this would be the only way I could manage to afford a house that big. Going to see financial adviser at the weekend and see what they say. If I sold mine I might be able to release some equity and pay off my loan or one of my big cards. Will suss it out after the weekend but I really want the house. It's funny how you can go into a house and although it is minging it just 'feels' right. Would give us some much needed space as well. Still not doing too well on the spending front, diet is out the window and the assignment that I am due to hand in tomorrow has not been done. I think my life is a wee bit out of control just now and it is really annoying me  . I need to get some order back in my life ASAP. I will do assignment over the weekend and get back on the straight and narrow with money and food also (fingers crossed). I hope everyone is well x5 Year plan. Feeling a bit bleugh! Can't buy the house as I had hoped to because of my debt   . There's this thing on with the rates just now and the best they can offer me is 7.24 which considering I am on a variable of 5% just now that is pretty cr*p. Apparently there are no building societies offering variable rates just now so you need to get a fixed rate and unless you have about a 75% loan to value ratio the products are junk. I feel so sorry for anyone trying to get on the property ladder as their deposit will be huge. I got 100% for my first flat. No chance of that now. I am dying for Christmas to be by so that I can get paying off the debts again. I am sooooooooooooooo fed up with it ruling my life and what I can do in my life. Ah never mind at least we can afford to live. Some folks cant. X5 Year plan. April 2020 to June 2025- CC and mortgage free by time I'm 60

Good morning all. Busy day for me today. I have an assignemnt to do and it was due in on Friday
. Am just going to send it tomorrow and act dumb and see if anyone says anything to me about it. I also have loads of ironing and washing and the place needs a wee tidy up. Luckily ds and dd are going to their dads for a wee while so I will get peace to be getting on with my studies. Hope to not spend anything today. I was out the last 2 nights but managed to only spend £40 between the 2 of them Considering one of them was a charity night and I had raffle tickets etc to buy then that was not too bad. Am away to start my work xx
