  • No spend today. Haven't actually left the house. I have looked out a few things for e-bay but have also bid on a few things. Hmm ! Don't think that's the right way to go about it lol. A lot of my clothes are too big for me now and I look ridiculous in them I have a few brown tops and no brown trousers or anything to go with them so a bit of canny shopping was required. I will just buy from e-bay in the main until I get to where I want to be weightwise. Been cooking loads today and have done umpteen washes and ironed for half of the day. Am knackered now and looking around me you would have no idea that I had worked so hard as the place is like a tip. Hope I don't get visitors tonight lol as I just can't be bothered to tidy up. Really need to do a shop but am trying to hold off for a few days. I have a few stamps etc saved up for Christmas. I have £50 for Morrisons and £30 for ASDA so that will help with the grocery shopping. Going to start shopping for pressies in earnest this week. Doubt there will be many overpayments for me. I might go next week and just get everything and stick it onto my TESCO card at 0% then make sure I pay it off of the Halifax one in addition to what I am already paying. Going for a weee catch up round the boards now x

Have been playing at money saving for a while but got back from hols last night and am determined that I am going to do it properly from now on. I dont want to curtail my life to the stage where my kids and I are totally miserable but I dont want my debt to increase and I want to make a huge hole in it. I will not get my knickers in a twist re my car or secured loan as both were essentials to my life. Car will be paid off and I will deal with the secured loan after credit cards etc.

    Ok here goes for SOA:
    My salary - £1,292.00
    Benefits - £ 311.83
    Child benefit- £ 135.00
    Maintenance- £ 134.33

    Total - £1873.16

    Monthly Outgoings:

    Mortgage/Rent - £237.13
    Council Tax - £89
    Gas - £20
    Electric - £27.50
    TV License - £11.41
Virgin- £55.00 ( house phone, 2 mobiles, broadband and tv)
    Food - £250.00
    Car Insurance - £35.00
    Petrol - £90
    Mort Insurance- £30.99
    Gas services- £25.70
    Comp insurance-£3.99
    Charity – £2.00
    Savings- £15.00

    Total: £892.72

    credit cards-

    Monthly Payment total- £277.00

    Loans:
    Secured - £21000.00 – 6.4% - £153.41
    Mum - £400.00 - 0% - £40 / month
    Credit union- £910.00 - 3% approx - £ 50/ month
    Car - £ 8500.00 - 6.5% - £156.91

Overdraft 1 - £79.09- will clear on Tuesday
Overdraft 2 - £1000.00- will keep going at the moment.

    Total outgoings = £1570.04
    Excess = £303.12.

I always manage my payments but I also always manage to increase my debt each month. Time to stop!!
Was a bit freaked at the actual amount I owe but was pleased to see I had some excess left :rotfl: .
This will take into account extras such as birthdays,Christmas, outings etc and I will also try and put some extra each month into my debts.

Ok then any advice is welcomed. Thanks in advance.

Please forgive me for asking but if you're earning/taking home so much how come you receive 'benefits ' of over £300??!
  • it's tax credits. I have 2 kids and childcare costs.

dont worry aobut the overpayments now, i think the aim of the game at this time of year is not to increase debt. i managed my NSD today by staying in my pyjamers. Sounds like you have had a productive day, i bet its a great feeling that all your clothes are too big now. well done for all your hard work.

  • oh dear I haven't been on here for 4 days. I am in the brown smelly stuff this month. I need to find £153 to pay my bills this month. Also need to pay £257 to Halifax card to repay what I have spent on the TESCO card. I doubt I'll manage it all but as long as I manage to pay the bills then thats ok. I have a night out each weekend this month so it will be expensive but hey I have a life :j . Went to ASDA tonight and spent £166  . Didn't shop last week and got 3 birthday pressies and 2 Christmas ones and a top for me and one for DS. Hopefully the food will more or less last for 2 weeks other than fresh stuff. Got my new quote in for my car insurance and couldn't find any cheaper as the breakdown cover is included in the one I have so I phoned and asked them if they could do any better for me and they knocked £20 off of it so I am happy enough with that. Might have made a tenner or something if I had gone through with changing it and using quidco but tbh for £10 I couldn't be bothered with the hassle. Have decided that next month I am going to pay minimum payments only and let us enjoy the run up to Christmas. I know I am lucky to be able to do this and I know some folks won't and I am really sorry for you but I was there last year at this time and ended up using credit and have spent all year paying it off so I know how it feels. I am on strike on Monday as well so that means a days wages will be missing in December so thats not so good. Need to write myself a list of what I need to buy yet. I have dd's and ds's main pressie so just bits and bobs to get for them and Ineed to get them some clothes as they have very little just now as they have both grown inches recently. Any way enough rabbiting. Ihope everyone is well. x

  • Hi there. Had a nice night out on Friday but meant a bit of a lost day yesterday as I was under the weather :o . Well my excuse is that being a money saver when there is an offer on I just have to take advantage and they had doubles for £1.80. Need I say more ?? :rotfl: . Went for som eshopping and actually managed to get DS to get some clothes! . It's normally a total battle if I want to get him anything other than joggers but I warned him in advance that I wanted him to act like the big boy he is and I wanted no nonsense and surprise surprise thats what he did. He got a lovely outfit that will do him for the party we are going to this coming weekend, the ceilidh we have the following weekend and for his school party so money well spent. Just shoes to get him.Need to get something for DD too as she has 'nothing ' to wear  . I'll just wear the same old same old :rotfl: . Really seriously need to get a days shopping and get some pressies organised. Nearly have all the stuff I need for sending to England so will get that off soon as there are birthdays and Christmas all mixed in with that parcel. I have been adding way too much to my CC and it now totals £349.44 to repay over and above my normal payments. Was going to say 'no chance ' but I will think positively and say it might take me until January but I will get it paid at some point. If I dont manage my target payments next month then I will add that figure to what I want to achieve.I have paid off over £3k this year and I am very proud of that as we have also managed to have a life as well as paying off the debt. Going to try and up the ante a wee bit next year and pay off £4k if possible. £3k will still be good but 4 would be great !! Hope you are all well

  • Hi Lunar. Hows your young man then? Still waiting to see pics. pm'd you my addy but doubting you got it. I am from Scotland and it is bleeding freezing today. Need to head out again tonight too as my mum has flu and I want to go and check on her and make sure she has everything she needs. Not spent any money today except kid's lunches. They both want school lunches as they are so fed up with packed lunches lol. Definately short on the cash front at the mo but I will survive this month. It's next month I'm more worried about but I'm sure we all are. Just put some chicken tikka in an dthen discovered I have no rice  . An mse'r with no rice  Unthinkable. Have tons of pasta but only arborio rice. So chips it is :p .
I have been eating a load of rubbish this last week as i was so stuffed up with the cold I couldn't be bothered cooking but was ultra shocked at what it had all cost me so back to cooking this week and tbh I enjoy it more. It's tastier and suits my tummy more. Convenience and junk food just lie like a tonne weight in my belly. Not nice !
Going to check paypal as I reckon I have some cash in there. I will transfer as much as i can to try and make up the deficit in my bills account. I will then try and pick up a few things each week for Christmas.
Hope everyone is doing well xx

I love food so muchmore when i cook it, i just forget that and get so lazy. how can i think a sandwich for £2.50 with no filling at the edge is better than one i make myself full of decent ingerdients where the bread isnt soggy.

i have sent you a pm with my email address.

Im trying to pick up a few things every week for christmas food shopping, that way i shouldnt notice it to much

  • Eew I cannot stand shop bought sarnies!! I watched one of those documentaries one night about a sandwich making factory and it was totally minging. I sent you an e-mail lunar. Hope you are all well.
Got a free tenner from paddypower but didnt win anything  . I dunno about the rest of you but I am spending a fortune just now and it is concerning me a bit tbh. I can see my totals going up by Christmas never mind going down
i have lost control of the shopping budget entirely. £166 last week and now £127 this week. Granted I bought some booze for Christmas with that and also a few pressies but still  . I need to have a couple of weeks of going shopping with my list and see if I can cut down and pay back some of themoney I have spent on my card :o . I think the problem is that I have cut down sooooo much all year that we all now need stuff, like clothes, shoes etc and it is mounting up. Never mind we will all look lovely :rotfl: .
I hope you are all grand x
