Hmm well its been an expensive day today.Bought stickers for pricing car boot stuff and freezer meals £1.98, Greggs ( cakes for kids) £1.45, Aldi £21.81, Butcher £13.33 and sweets £3.50. Bought a jacket for DS as well but my mum is giving me the money for that. Got my bill in for my service for my car £155   bl**dy hell. Had budgeted for £150 but was really really hoping it would be less. We are going to a wedding tomorrow but I am taking the car as I can't afford to drink and you know what it's like when you have a few drinks you forget what you are spending.Well I do anyway:p . Doing car boot on Saturday as well so need to stay semi compusmentus(sp). My nephews birthday at the weekend too so will have to give him £20 in a card. Oh well beans and toast for the rest of the month. Hmm I have no beans left xx5 Year plan. April 2020 to June 2025- CC and mortgage free by time I'm 60

Ouch:eek: Got to admit I don't think my poor car has had a service for the past 3 years
, rather like the dentists it's just one of those things that always ends up more expensive than planned and never seems worth the money! Saying that, although when I first got it I might have well as dug myself a bottomless pit and kept throwing cash in it, she's cleared the last 3 MOTs no problem, and at 13yrs old I can't complain (fingers crossed, touch wood, saluting magpies etc, I hope I haven't just jinxed myself!).
If you were down here in Leeds I'd have sent you a pot of the chilli I've just spent 2 1/2 hours making - but it will do 7 meals for me and OH. Unfortunately as it's all we've got in apart from tins of sweetcorn, it looks like it will be the chilli diet for the rest of the month _pale_ I really need to learn how to cook something else!1st April 2008 challenge:mad: xmas overspend = [strike]£254.05[/strike] £0:j......cc1 = [strike]£240.78[/strike] £0:j .......cc2 = [strike]£667.47[/strike] £0 :j ...amount owed to ISA = [strike]£1599.90[/strike] £0:jTOTAL TO GO = [strike]£2762.20[/strike] £0 !!! DONE IT DONE IT DONE IT!!!:dance:0 -
Red I swear to god I hated cooking until I started this money saving and I love it now. I made stew tonight for dinner and I had thrown some sausages in it to bulk it up. Now usually I would have just cooked it in oxo then put bisto in at the end. Today I crushed 2 cloves of garlic and cooked it in the slow cooker omg it was magic. Got 2 loads out of it , so 1 in freezer. I used to buy chicken nuggets, pizzas etc etc. Salty crap. Kids still like that but actually prefer home cooked food and so do I. It doesn't take any longer tbh because I normally cook double which means the next time its a case of heating it up. I bake as well and make bread- not all the time but quite a lot. Great at the end of the month as you can always make sure you have the ingredients in for bread, rolls and pizzas. So you want to swap some chilli for beans on toast :rotfl:5 Year plan. Well the blister I've got from chopping veg is still telling me beans on toast is a great idea! I am getting better (I even put a leek in the last stew I made), but unless I can throw it all in one dish then I'm kinda useless. My limit is pretty much chilli, stew, and pasta with tinned tomato, onion, tuna and a bit of garlic and crushed chilli (this is normally an end of the month favourite as I stockpiled tuna when it was on offer ages ago, and we always have about 200weight of pasta in).
You have got me thinking about the whole breadmaking thing again though, but suspect OH may go through even more bread!1st April 2008 challenge:mad: xmas overspend = [strike]£254.05[/strike] £0:j......cc1 = [strike]£240.78[/strike] £0:j .......cc2 = [strike]£667.47[/strike] £0 :j ...amount owed to ISA = [strike]£1599.90[/strike] £0:jTOTAL TO GO = [strike]£2762.20[/strike] £0 !!! DONE IT DONE IT DONE IT!!!:dance:0 -
Good evening. Been to see my neighbour getting married today. Why do I always cry? Maybe cos I know how crap it will be lol. The priest went on and on and on and on with his sermon and I whispered to my 13yr old daughter that I was dying to shout BOGIES as it was all so quiet and calm. The 2 of us got the giggles then and she gave me into trouble. Who is the mummy?? I wonder sometimes.
We went to the museum after that to see the Doctor Who exhibition. DS was calling it the expedition. :rotfl: . It was free which was great. £0.80 for car park and £4.20 for chips and juice. Oh well they were delish. We haven't bought junk food in ages. DS was in his element and sat for ages just staring at theTARDIS with a daft grin on his face.
Did DD's paper round with her after that and just about to get a bath and get ready to party. It's a ceilidh band so will be fab. Sore feet tomorrow I think5 Year plan. April 2020 to June 2025- CC and mortgage free by time I'm 60

Thanks Penny. I find it therapeutic to vent on here and shout Bogies lol.
Wedding was fantastic last night. It was ina castle in the middle of nowhere and I was a bit grumpy about driving but WOW!! Was stunning. It was a ceilidh and most of the guys had on their kilts. Was a real Scottish shindig. The kids had a ball. We then came back and went into our neighbours( parents of the groom) and I had some alcohol. Unfortunately DS fell asleep on the floor so I had to pretend to be a good mummy and take him into bed at 2.45 am. OOps. Maybe I should start a bad mother thread on here. Going to try and not spend today at all. Was going to do a car boot today and everything is all organised but it is pelting down with rain so I just turned over in my bed and went back to sleep. I'll go another day. So long as I do one this month and can achieve my debt in a month challenge. xx5 Year plan. April 2020 to June 2025- CC and mortgage free by time I'm 60
