...to pay off the final cc, and I had the money left in my account (although some of it was to cover this month's cc bill), so I've done it, I've paid it all off:j :j :j (well, all except the £5 DD that will go out on the 8th, but it's so close that I didn't want to pay it all and then have them take the DD as well - I've fallen for that one before). So maybe I'm cheating a little but I'm classing myself as being DF as of now:p . Unfortunately I can't really celebrate as I have to be up at 5.30. I hate it when work sends me to London on a Monday:( . On that note, I should probably be heading off to bed. Night night folks xx

Hi MIT, sorry to hear you don't feel well, join the club.
Well I haven't a cold, but still feel rubbish. Maybe some chocolate might just do the trick eh?

  • woohoo Red well done you. My totals havent gone down this month unfortunately as I did a £4k balance transfer and that cost me £119.20. It'll save me much more than that in the long run though. The Halifax have raised my minimum payment per month and I ended up paying £17 more this month than I did last month even though balance has gone down. I have double checked it with them and they offered to put it back down but I said no. I want it paid off anyway so I might as well crack on with it.

Done some shopping in ASDA tonight and spent £95.87. Not all for food mind you so I will only be counting £58.44 from my grocery budget.A lot of that was actually cleaning stuff that I had run out of, so actual food was probably about a tenner:o . It's hopeless going shopping when you feel sh*tty and forget your list :rotfl: . Going to sit now and do my budget for the month and see if there is any left over. DD has a birthday this month so no doubt that will cost me a few bob. I have another wee 3 day Jolly next week for my diploma ( still havent got the results from the assignment from last time:mad: ) and I am off to lovely Edinburgh this time. Will need some spends for that too. Told one of the guys that I was signing the pledge before going and not drinking any alcohol. He was like nooooooooo way. But I said I was only signing it in pencil so I could rub it out if I wanted lol. Right am off to do budget and dope myself with many many cold remedies so that I get a nice sleep tonight. Take care. xx

Well done Red for being debt free.

I got good news from the bank this morning to say we have been accepted for a mortgage to pay the debts off.
Only thing is they won't lend us the whole amount, so it still leaves a few cards outstanding.
But once I've paid off the loans and the other cards, I will add my debts to my signature and then try and throw money at the cards to bring the debt down.
I think I will have about under £5,000 still to pay off, but far better than the whole amount hanging over our heads.:j

Me and hubbie are going to promise not to take any more cards out, and just keep to one each for emergencies.
When we do go on holiday, we have to use one for getting petrol on the car hire. Thats the terms and conditions of the car hire company in Spain, they won't accept cash, so then we will pay the money off when we get back.

The bank said the paperwork should be with me by next week, then the money in the account 5 days after, whoppeee. :j
I have wrote down all my debts and kept it on file, and when I get the money, they will be paid, for defo.:D

    Hope you are all well.
No spend day for me today, not even been out of the house.
Hope you are feeling ok MIT xxxxx
  • hello hello hello. I feel much better :)
Got the result of my assignment and passed that too :)
Paid and solvent so far :)
No maintenance in from ex :( Will give him the benefit of the doubt and put the lateness down to the fact that it was a bank holiday last week.

Binnie that'll perk you up girl. Please please dont use the cards again though cos thats what I did and you just end up in a right old mess. Mine just dont seem to be going down at all even though I feel as if I am paying loads off of them.Nearly all on 0% now so hopefully will see a fair old difference soon. DD has decided to stop going to dancing. She has gone for nearly 12 years :(. Her choice and tbh I was fed up about 7 years ago. Will save me loads of money too so I've told her she can have a clothes allowance of £25 per month but that has to buy her uniform as well as everything else. Also told her I want receipts lol. Am away to sit on my fat a$$ now. Take care xx

Hello, glad you're feeling better. Well done on the assignment and on being solvent - I had a mad panic earlier but some how hadn't realised all the big bills had come off already so my sums weren't out after all. I remember the days I used just go take money out as long as there was money there and not worry what was coming later in the month...seems hard to believe how daft I was! now it's all spreadsheets and checking balances!
    Well done Red.

congrats MIT on passing the assignment and being solvent. whatever that means, I'm a bit thicko. :)

Had a girlie night in tonight and sold £38 worth of bags and bits and bats, had a good natter too and some wine and nibbles.
Made my week off seem a bit better as I hadn't seen real people since Saturday morning.
Was feeling sorry for myself being home alone and feeling sad and depressed.
I'm sure I will get through it though, my sense of humour always gets me by.

Thanks everyone, hope I'm still allowed to loiter here:o . To be honest it all feels a bit of an anti-climax, don't know what I was expecting, maybe something similar to when people win the jackpot on the slot machines in Las Vegas :rotfl: . Funny thing is that I had a list of things I was going to buy once the debt was gone (nothing massive, a couple of cushions for the settee, a box for my craft stuff, a necklace I've had my eye on for ages), but now it comes to it I'm not at all motivated to go and buy them (and I've even got a 10% off voucher for the necklace). Maybe I've finally cured myself of my spendaholic ways? Maybe I just haven't got used to the idea and I shouldn't speak too soon:rolleyes: .

Congratulations on the assignment mit, and I'm pleased that you're feeling better. Hopefully the maintenance will come through soon.

Congrats binnie on the bag sales. I used to hate it when I was on holiday and didn't see anyone, I'd be climbing the walls by day 3. Nowadays though I'm just glad to be away from work.
