Popping OHS back in. He's showering then it's back round.
It's my birthday on Sat, shall we bet whether she lasts till then?0 -
OH fell back to sleep, he'd just got back up when the call came and he's dashed back round. I'm hanging some washing out then I'm gonna see if he wants me there0

Take it an hour at a time at the mo. You never know in these situations; one friend was home and joking 24 hours before he died, a relative was not concious for over a week.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0

you just cannot tell how long a person lingers melly - and nobody can be awake and with her 24/7 and she may be hanging on til everyone leaves too. I too, have heard many anecdotes - people popping to the loo or to make a cuppa and getting back to find them gone.
just try to keep to a sensible schedule - its all you can do.0 -

When my uncle was in the hospice - and lasting much longer than anyone expected - we had someone there 24/7 but the nurses told us to give him spells of being alone (go and make a snack, have a walk round the grounds, chat to the nurses, etc) because many patients wait until they are alone to slip away.0 -
She passed away 20 mins ago0

Her suffering is at an end, and hopefully, this will be the end of your OH's suffering too. {{hugs}} - and stay strong for him, Melly moo - there is going to be an almighty melt-down now. xx0

Brace yourself Melly. I hope all arrangements for the funeral are made amicably (but even in the best of families this can cause rows and tension). Your OH has done his best - despite all the problems he was THERE for her during her illness and death. he cannot do any more for her now - and frankly, if things look like getting ugly, he could not be blamed for steering clear of the evil ones!0

I've been following this thread melly. I haven't posted as I've just very recently been through similar myself (lost my beloved Dad to bowel cancer in December), so it's a subject that is still quite raw for me. Also don't think I could have offered you any better advice than the excellent advice you already received off the regular posters.
But I have been following and have admired your strength throughout all of this.
However, I just wanted to offer you and your DH my condolences. Xx0 -
Sending hugs and prayers. Hang on, there are bound to be storms but now your OH can start to grieve and heal.
You are a hero dealing with this, wishing you all the luck and strength.Ankh Morpork Sunshine Sanctuary for Sick Dragons - don't let my flame go out!0
