What about son's? What age should you let them or should they wait to 18.

I have refused so far mostly because I was worried about this fashion for stretching but I don't think they want that now and are glad that they didn't do it but my 15 year old is still on about getting them pierced. What is reasonable?

DD was nearly 12. School had a rule that earrings shouldn't be worn for PE so she had them done at the start of the summer holidays so they were sufficiently healed to take in and out by the time she went back in September.

I wasn't allowed until I was 12 and I think if I had a daughter I would make her wait until she had finished primary school. I can't bear seeing earrings on babies or really little girls, don't think it looks good at all.

DS is 8 and thankfully has never asked but if he ever did I'll be pulling rank and saying "not while you're under my roof" as I can't bear boys (or men for that matter) with earrings. Old fashioned as that might seem to some, I certainly cringe when I see schoolboys with earrings. DS plays rugby and intends on continuing in that vein, so I'll also play on that if he ever asks :D.

i was 4 months old having mine done and was going to do same to my kids but decided not to as they may not have wanted it done

i had my second ears done at 11 and took them out 2 weeks later hated it so much , funny thou my first holes are still open havent worn earing for years n years but second ones are closed

i think that you have done the right thing and waited till teen ish years i would allow her to have them done now if really wanted but defo stress importance of looking after them and not to fiddle with them or take them out

i dont think being old fashioned comes in to it , its just that getting ears done come across as a adult thing to do maybe?

Babies have them done in Europe, it's the norm over there, all my friends have had their daughters done very young, from babies:D

Earrings on children younger than 12/13 is really low(no)-class.....

It's as chavy as a cheap arm tattoo or wearing PJ's to the supermarket....

When I see a young child with earrings I know that's the next generation of single mothers, 2 or 3 kids by different fathers and the rest.....Vickie Pollard mark II

Dd will get them in the school holidays between middle and high school as she isn't allowed to wear them in middle school and at first school she was too young. However, this is only if she still wants them done, she has asked but doesn't seem too fussed.
Also she has a mole on the back of one ear where the earring would go so Im not comfortable in piercing there as I'm not sure it's safe :/ she is still small though so it may move out the way by the time she gets them done :)
:hello: Hiya, I'm single mom, avid moneysaver and freecycler, sometimes  but definatly :D

That's a ridiculous and very ignorant statement to make. You have to take into account cultural reasons as to why some people have their daughters ears pierced at a relatively early age. My daughter was 8 weeks old and whilst I understand some people find that hard to understand, for others it's what they would also do.My daughter grew up to be a mother with 3 children by the same father and the father is a teacher. She also is very academic. Sort of contradicts your theory doesn't it?.

Oh and there are two V's in chavvy!,
