  • Hi could anyone please tell me if I will be due a payment from tax credits due to over estimating my husbands income?
The estimated figure I gave for 2013/2014 was £20,000 (he is self employed) the amount he actually earn't was £7042
The estimation I have given for 2014/2015 is £30,000 as he has changed jobs and is now an employee.
I got a provisional award notice today and there was no mention of any payments being due for being underpaid but our credits for 2014/2015 have drastically reduced obviously due to my husbands earnings increase for next year.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

    Thanks Claire x

Does anyone else keep getting renewal text messages? I renewed and had my paperwork back ages ago.

If you don't renew then your claim from 06/04/14 will be terminated.

You say you are on a payment plan, is this direct payments or are they taking it back from any award you have?

Direct payments. Our award is nil. Thanks

Firstly I think a huge 'thank you' is due to blondebubbles for answering so many questions so efficiently.
I've actually glanced through the whole thread as I can't find the answer to my simple questions elsewhere. I'm middle-aged, no current private pension or kids and live by myself. I'm self employed, working >30 hours pw and get around £52pw WTC, which I think is the maximum for my circumstances. At what annual income level would this start to diminish?
Also, does ISA interest have to be declared (I only ask because it doesn't on the self assessment tax return).

Renewed over the phone 5/6/2014 - still nothing!!! They said 4th August is the 8 week limit but I have a feeling that theyre going to tell me its still not done. This is so so frustrating!!! Theyve confirmed that theres nothing wrong with the figures its just 'waiting'. I need the finalisation for student finance so I can get the right amount. Wht if its not done by 4th?? What happens then??
Apparently still about 750,000 renewals still to be completed (that's ones that have been received at all, not ones received but still to be processed)

I'm in a quandary as the cut off date looms. I sent mine back in the post on the 5/6/2014. My fear is that they haven't received it, with so many being sent back it stands to reason some will get 'lost in the post'. Then what happens if it's yours? I suppose you have to start a new claim?
I did ring a couple of weeks ago to see if I could check they had received it and pushed the button which said that it was taking 8 weeks and that I wouldn't hear until after the 31st July.

So should I jam up the phone lines even more to find out if they actually got my form or just sit tight and wait?

You should call and make sure they received it.

Grrrr! So annoyed. After going through all the spiel and options only to be told 'we can't take your call at the moment'. Why?

    I shall try again later...

The system thinks the current queue on the phones is too long to allow anyone to join. I would have a go 10-11 or maybe around 2-4 as there can be a bit of a lull but obviously with the deadline on Thursday, this might not happen today!

I tried twice more and eventually got left in the queue. Actually on had to wait on hold for about 15 mins. They said it would be processed by Aug 1st.

    Thanks for the help :)
