Tax Credits Renewals - 2014

Does anyone knows what happens if you renew in time but then HMRC decide that they haven't received your renewal in time?
In previous years I have always received my final award notice prior to 31st July, but this year, I renewed online (and kept no evidence of doing so) but have yet to receive anything from HMRC. I have tried to phone a few times to check it has been received but keep getting hung up on and I can never speak to a person.
What if it gets to 1st August and they have decided I haven't renewed or do not like the figures I have supplied (I had to deduct private pension contributions and £100pw for maternity leave from the figure they had taken from my P60.)?
Thanks0 -
The problem is, you renew online and there's nothing to confirm you've done it other than a screen print (which I have kept). If the introduction of Universal Credit brings a proper online system, then that will be one good thing to come of it.2kWp Solar PV - 10*200W Kioto, SMA Sunny Boy 2000HF, SSE facing, some shading in winter, 37° pitch, installed Jun-2011, inverter replaced Sep-2017 AND Feb-2022.0

Hi looking for a bit of advice, I have had 2 auto renewals and another to reply to. I had a joint then single then back to joint. I did my renewal in june all sorted. But I am so confussed about the auto renewals. When will I know if I have been underpayed overpaid ? Will I get any form of final award them. I would phone up but I really carnt deal with a week on hold and then to be told a load lf giberish ! Thanks0

I did mine online about 5 weeks ago and have not heard anything. I just tried to call them to check it has been received; how difficult is it to get through?! Lots of automated questions - one wrong move and you're cut off!
The recording said, "We are currently taking 8 weeks to process claims, if yours has been less than 8 weeks do not call again until 8 weeks is up. Goodbye"
That's me told! 0 -

No joy in getting through on the phone either yet - this usually happens to me every July so I'm not panicking yet, but I will be away from home for the last week of July so that makes this year specially exciting in getting the forms doneJustKeepSwimming wrote: »I finally got through on the helpline yesterday to query where my pack was - assured it was produced on 31/5 & "Hadn't I had it yet?" - yes, of course I'd wasted hours of my life trying to get through for a laugh :rotfl:
Result is I was told that there had been a problem with sending out packs & many people weren't receiving them on time, & certainly not within the 2 week time frame that TC allow for sending them out. I don't know why my pack should have been lost as there haven't been any changes for 2 years.
I was assured that as I'd reported not getting my pack, a new pack would be issued with a later deadline return date, & my payments shouldn't stop. Lets hope they don't....
So if you're still waiting for your renewal pack then give them a ring to report its non arrival. Amazingly I got through at 4.30 pm (after quite a long wait....) & the 3 different people I spoke to were very helpful.
At this time of year I count my lucky stars that I don't work on the TC helplineJustKeepSwimming wrote: »HMRC are sending me reminder texts to remember to renew my claim or my payments will stop - as I still haven't had my pack that is a little hard :rotfl:
Anyone else getting these texts - I don't remember getting them in previous years. Maybe they are just trying to prove the do have a sense of humour...
Still no renewal pack here, so I made a gallon of tea & called the helpline.....
Apparently my last call about not getting a pack had been noted but not actioned :wall: so I was never going to get a new renewal pack issued from that call.
Today I've been promised that a new one will be here within 2/52 :rotfl: with an extended deadline, & no, my payments absolutely wont stop. I did ask what the new deadline will be, but "it will depend on when the system issues the new pack" - the chap I spoke to had no idea if that would be extra weeks or months. Any ideas anyone?
I'm not sure I believe them about my payments not stopping - can anyone put my mind at rest about this please?
At least I'm only getting texts once a week now, & hoping they'll stop at the end of this month
I didn't get the pick 1 for x options though on the helpline though - I had to say a lot of info & my heart sank at the beginning of the call as I have quite a strong accent that even real people can't cope with sometimes :rotfl: but this service worked really well for me so well done to HMRC for that. I got through fairly quickly too - tea is still hot.& as for some happy ending I'd rather stay single & thin

I still haven't had a renewal pack. The third one has been sent out(computer didn't send First two) I've been told I have an extra 4 weeks which is fine as I'm an auto renew with no changes. Computer closed account for no reason so apparently it's been fixed manually.0

The guidance for staff doesn't include any information about how long claimants will be given if a new pack is issued which will be why they didn't know. To the best of my knowledge you get around 30 days to deal with it.
If you deal with the renewal by the date printed on your pack, you will have no issues with your claim. The process of sending the pack is all the staff need to do to make this happen for you, so getting the pack with a new deadline date on it should be all the reassurance you need that things have been done properly as there's little else for people to get wrong... Thanks amiehall & catlady76 - provided the darn form turns up then 30 days will be fine for me to get it back to them. I've had the figures ready for months now, as obviously I've been expecting to do this form for a while now
I wonder how long it takes the renewal forms to be marked as received by HMRC? Assuming this 30 day extension means that HMRC need to have received & logged the form back within those 30 days? Obviously I'll get the form back to them ASAP.& as for some happy ending I'd rather stay single & thin

Hi, just wondering if anyone can help.
I got my auto-renewal letter/award a couple of months ago, and nothing has changed, so we don't need to do anything. However, the letter says "we will decide on 31st July 2014 that your final award for the year 2013/14 is £2609". I've worked out the amount we actually received in TCs for the 2013/14 year to be almost £260 less than the final figure-- we got £37.85 a week, and also paid back an overpayment of £385, so we actually received £2353.
Does this mean I'll get the £260 extra back after 31st July? Or does it mean their final figure is wrong somehow? In past years, we've often had an "extra" payment of money owed around renewal time, so I assumed the same will happen this year-- does that sound right?
Thank you!0 -
This is my first experience of tax credit renewal nightmare ...forms sent back 02/05/2014 called in June and was told yes they were received but may not be processed until 11th July - 12th July rang them and was told not yet processed and would receive a call within 2 weeks - rang again today (28 minute wait) to be first answered by someone who said sorry I don't normally work tax credits I'll transfer you to someone who can help...finally nice chap answers but again says still not processed - there are no issues but still in a queue to be done...option he had was to refer again but already in the 12th week (norm is 8-10 weeks) for another promise of a call within 2 weeks or escalate to a manager for a call back within 10 days...in the end he said he would call me back by end of today to advise which route he opted for. All this because in my last award notice it mentioned a potential underpayment and with the school holidays it would be nice to know if I'm getting one so me & the kids can do something extra good
Is anyone else waiting this long???0
