Hi all. I got my P60 in April and realised I had earnt £2900 more than what I had expected to due to a pay rise and general over time. So I called the tax credits office to notify them of this in April as I had my renewal pack - spoke to them over the phone.

I also let them know that my sons child care costs had reduced by £72 a week. This is because my son went nursery 4 days a week but now I've broke up from uni for summer holidays he only goes 2 days now until I go back uni in September. Anyway I've let them know my changes and I received a provisional award dated 28th April. Why is this a provisional award.. It's now over 3 months later and still no actual award. What are they doing? I'm worried now because I bet you I receive a letter asking for all sorts.
Anyone else still on a provisional? Or been through similar?

If your childcare costs will go back up again, then you should be working out an average over 52 weeks rather than reporting each time they change.

They are taking some time to process some renewals often because they are doing extra checks. Not much you can do i'm afraid other than wait.

I got straight through and it was all automated. I hope that is correct as I feel a bit uneasy about it not being a 'real' person on the other end.

I felt exactly the same, horrible isn't it? I renewed a couple of weeks ago; the machine told me not to contact them until early September as it might take that long to get the paperwork out to me (8 weeks from the call). It also said not to worry if I had some odd payments before getting the paperwork.

To anyone who is getting the texts from HMRC reminding them to renew, ring and check even if you think you have sent the forms back. I did just that today and thank goodness I did.
My first renewal form was delayed in the post by more than 2 weeks so I rang and got another one sent out. Meanwhile, the first form arrived so I filled it in and sent it back next day. 2 days later the second form arrived and I ignored it thinking I've filled the original in, it'll be fine. A few days later I got the text from HMRC saying we've got your form, it'll be processed in approx 8 weeks etc. Then I started getting the automated texts reminding me to renew as the deadline was approaching. I ignored those because I thought its fine, they've got my forms as per the first text.
I phoned today first thing and got through to a really helpful person who told me that yes, they had recieved my first form but because they had sent out a second they were waiting for that to be returned as the bar code from the first form had been cancelled and they couldnt process it. The seemingly automated texts were their way of saying there's a problem.
Anyway, she took my details again over the phone and I now have to wait 8 weeks from today for it to be processed. I am so glad I phoned as it would have slipped past the deadline with me thinking everything was OK when it wasnt.
Well done if you've read this far!

Just an update... I just got through to tax credits... managed to get through pretty much straight away.

Gentleman I spoke to was really helpful and informed me my renewal was processed yesterday and was able to tell me that the renewal prompted a one off payment and the amount and was also able to tell me my new award.

I said I was amazed to get through so quickly and he said they have been very quiet so if anyone is hoping to get through to them, today might be a good time.

My renewal has taken around 12 weeks from sending back at the beginning of May but also included a childcare compliance check.

    Hope this helps....

Morning, I renewed online Sunday evening and have this morning received a random amount of working tax credits into my bank account. Does this mean they have successfully received and processed my renewal- made me a tad nervous doing it online with no real confirmation it had been sent! If they have then am shocked by how quickly it's happened!
Would this payment be an underpayment (it was for £92, I'm currently receiving £14 per week for wtc) and if so if I was due a child tax credit underpayment would that have gone into my bank at the same time or is it possible I'm still due to receive that?
How long should I expect to wait until I receive my award notice in the post?
    Thanks for any replies :)
  • Currently on hold to see if there has been any progress with my renewal that I did in May! Doubt I will have any luck but who knows?

I got excited this morning when I checked my bank account to see a CTC payment gone in as I thought it was an extra payment. But having checked, it's a bank holiday in Scotland on monday so it's probably just my usual payment gone in early. I renewed online about 6 weeks ago and haven't heard anything yet.

Thank you, I don't think mine is as I haven't had any ctc atall (which I normally receive weekly) just a random much higher payment than normal of wtc. I usually get paid on a Tuesday and haven't received early for Scottish bank holiday before. Was hoping I would get some paperwork today to explain but haven't. Don't fancy the phone call wait so will just keep hold of it until it's confirmed it's mine to keep :)
  • I renewed last week and had an amount a little over my monthly amount extra go in to my bank. Does anyone know if this would be the potential payment mentioned on last year's papers? It's about £40.00 more than what I was expecting. I know people have had extra payments, are these the same as potential payments? I was auto renewal with no changes.:)

I renewed my tax credits on the 26th April 2014, and still haven't heard anything back... Ive phoned up numerous times and got the same response as many on here, altho he assured me 'there was no issue and nothing in the notes on the system'.

When I last rang he said to me ' for what reason do you need it finalising', which I thought was quite rude considering i've been waiting for over 12 weeks and just want it for my own piece of mind.

    Have you heard anything yet?
