Many of my acquaintances dont see the point of chipping away each month, when it doesnt make a big dent in the overall amount owed.
However, looking at how much interest has been saved helps me realise how worthwhile it is and is very motivational.
With zero overpayments I would have paid my bank about £62,000 in interest over the life of the mortgage. As it stands if I make no further overpayments I'd only give them £43,500. :money:

We got our mortgage offer last week, so I have all my stats, I will repay £1.81 for every £1 borrowed if I don't overpay. I have already made tables as to how fast it will be repaid with £X/£Y/ £Z overpayments a month.
If our mortgage payment was the same amount we have been paying in rent for the last 18 months, our 26 yr mortgage would last 6 years. I am aiming for MFin104/10/25Three Years Mortgage Free Yay!
