Productive day doing DIY so I think I deserve a beverage this evening.
Speaking of drinks is it just me gets a disturbing level of enjoyment from opening a brand new jar of coffee?
I got to do the honours earlier in a break from painting and it really made my day!

I remember a Times mag article which said there should be a word for it

Glad to hear I'm not a total nut job.
Actually, maybe it means I'm sat in the madhouse..............:rotfl:
In other news I have decided I need to do more during the week when I get home from work. I often am tired and just flake out and watch some random programmes (no TV or licence so its whatever's on catch up). The programmes are usually not that interesting, but this leaves me with all the housework to do at the weekend on top of decorating.
So, my new resolution is to do just one thing each evening so as to spread the load out. Tonight I cleared a drain of leaves/muck. I then felt really keen so did a couple hours of wall scraping. Certainly wont do this much each night.

Had an interesting day today.
Went out to a carpet clearance store and have now got flooring for a couple of rooms. Free delivery, free fitting, free grippers, free door plates. I almost felt a bit guilty presenting my 10% off voucher from the local paper. Due to be fitted in the week so that will be progress.
As I had bought a day bus pass specifically for the journey I thought I'd make the most of it, and then went on some random buses to see a few parts of town I'd not really been before. Stopped off at the biggest shopping centre in my area for a wander about and maybe get inspiration for furniture. I have a passionate dislike for shopping and so generally don't go to shopping malls, and when I do its straight to the discount/end of line stores then make a sharp exit with only what I need. When I have visitors round I say that minimalism is in vogue at present.
I couldn't believe the prices being charged in some of the more upmarket shops. One was selling shirts for £25 but had a "deal" on of any 5 for £100. They had people queuing up to basically get themselves mugged
I realised I was way out of my depth when I stumbled into an outlet selling a particular brand of home coffee machines and accompanying paraphernalia. It was kitted out like a fancy wine bar and had a guy at the back offering tastings. Maybe everyone was waiting for George Clooney himself to turn up, cos I couldn't see why else it would be so busy.
I'm pretty sure most people there would have been on "normal" salaries, and so I found the experience quite eye opening to see non-MSE folks in action, slapping down what could have been a months mortgage payment on "stuff".

I said I almost felt guilty
It was an Aladdin's cave where what you see is what you can get, mostly end of roll and slight seconds, but some real good quality carpets amongst the dross. Eventually managed to find a couple of bits I liked that fitted the two rooms.
Seemed far better than a national "half price sale must end today" (starts again tomorrow) chain, but will report back on the standard of installation next week.

Another productive day in the Midnight house.
Spent some time doing some of the small jobs to make the rooms perfect for when carpets arrive. Couple of bits of paint that still need retouching, but should be good to go.
