Confession time....... I fell off the cheap shopping wagon.

Been really busy with work and just not had time to do a proper food shop at weekend. Popping in to the local small s@ins and the difference in price for fresh fruit & Veg is ludicrous.

    Must do better

Tut tut tut :naughty:. Say three Hail Martin's :money:as a penance and knit some yogurt :D.

Will try my hardest, though im pretty much chasing my tail at the moment.

I'm doing long hours at work and even had to come in at weekend. By the evening I am knackered and it is far easier to nip in to a convenience store, rather than travel much further to somewhere that's cheaper. Sure will feel better once I can get rest.

I'm sure you will be back on the wagon very quickly.

If you were not recognising the fall off it would be more concerning but you see what's happening so I'm sure you will be back to your frugal ways in no time.

Chin up, it doesn't come without it's challenges, slips and hiccups.

  • Hi Midnight  - I've just stumbled upon your diary and was pleased to find another MFW whose 'going it alone' so to speak. My house sounds much like yours, not in the decor sense, it all looked fantastic when I bought it, but everything had been bodged (think door frames supporting the kitchen floor and various other 'inventive' techniques). It's been a slow process of gradually putting everything right whilst making overpayments but it's a nice feeling to know that it's all been done properly. You've done brilliantly so far on your overpayments and I'm sure you'll have a hefty chunk to chuck at the mortgage at the end of your current term. Please do keep posting and letting us know how you're getting on. I'll be watching your journey with interest.

  • So it would seem that with all the hours i'm putting in at work don't have any time to spend money. Been paid so shuffled the leftover money budgeted for Feb into the emergency fund.

Only got a few hundred quid left to reach my £3000 target, but think I might press on a bit further with this as the boiler made some strange noises the other week .

    In other money saving news.........
    Grapes: Was £2, now 49p.
    Fancy potatoes: Was £1.25, now 29p :D

  • Sorry for my absence, been away with work.

Counting down to payday but wont have much left this month to slide across to the savings account.
I'm owed a fair bit of expenses so that will go towards the OP'ing fund when I can get that back.

Not much else happening at the moment.

  • Having a lazy weekend, but it was kind of needed.

Only activity today was a trip to Ald!. I spent a lot more than I would usually when shopping, stocking up on rice, tins, toothpaste and such like :D.

Regretted it walking home with all this stuff and I think my arms have lengthened by several inches

Will give a proper update on the mortgage next week.
