Thanks Vinnybro, though that will be the last of the big overpayments for a while.
Phase 1 of my plan was to clear as much as physically possible to get the best remortgage deal. Bring on phase 2!!

Why so many Christmas parties to attend? It does not help trying to be a MFW!!!
Luckily I am due to be paid for my moonlighting job, so that should help balance things out.

Hope everyone had a great Christmas.
My first regular payment on the shiny new mortgage has come out. Quite a lot smaller as I have stopped my OP standing order, but I aim to save in high interest accounts instead.
Not done any money shuffling yet as I spent quite a lot on the CC in the run up to Christmas and that will come off in full in the next few days. Will start topping up the other pots after that.
My biggest achievement this month is that the new rate drops my daily interest from just under £10 to just over £6.
Right, i'm off to work out what I need to do to get that number starting with a 5.

Well I managed it much quicker than expected as I had made a hash of the calculation

Been busy trying to get house in order money wise.
1- Paid a large credit card bill (in full of course). I had made a few large purchases recently including a laptop and a new suit so it was pretty bad.
2 - I set up a regular saver £250 per month at 4%. This I wont be able to access but it should give me a nice pot that I can pay off the mortgage in the future.
3 - Paid a couple hundred into the emergency fund. Its still over £1000 below my target, but will rectify this over next 2-3 months.
Finally, I have been investigating peer to peer lending. If I am building savings for 2 years I may need to get creative to earn decent interest. Might put something more into shares, though probably less than 30% as I don't want too much risk.

New years resolution going well so far.
Been shopping at Ald! & L!dl for the bulk of my groceries, and stuck to it apart from a visit to s@ins for a couple of urgent bits and a late night trip to c0-0p to have a crack at the yellow sticker lotto :rotfl:.
I am still frequenting my local independent butcher & baker :A

Another month chalked off the spreadsheet.
My emergency fund is now looking a little healthier, almost halfway to my target. After next month will be able to do some serious saving.
Best money saving development is that I had an unsolicited letter from bank saying that I am having my account upgraded - for free!!. It wont have a monthly charge (I read small-print very carefully), but gives better rates on my savings.
I don't know how much better these rates are yet, but its free money, and comes with zero effort on my part.

Confession time....... I fell off the cheap shopping wagon.
Been really busy with work and just not had time to do a proper food shop at weekend. Popping in to the local small s@ins and the difference in price for fresh fruit & Veg is ludicrous.
