Compromise - Tell her you've found a great deal 40 meg Fibre at £7.99 per month and then £20 after that (and free installation)

(Current Sky deal can't check the higher fibre cost atm but presumably there will be a deal there too)

Frankly £40 a month is top price and no-one here is going to endorse that

Yeah, I've seen that Sky deal for 38Mbps but I can afford the £40 a month.

For what I do on a computer 38Mbps would be better than what I have, 76Mbps would be more suitable, particularly given it comes with up to 19Mbps upload speed which is extremely useful for the amount of information I transmit to Dropbox, online gaming, the ever increasing size of work related documents I need to send and receive etc.

And all that is before we take into consideration what she uses her computer/tablet for these days. It's not an insufficient amount of usage.

As it isn't costing her anything I don't really see a reason to compromise. Once she sees it in action, I'm sure she'll agree. :)
  • My suggestions?

    1. Stir crazy from being so restricted in movement.

    2. The loss of independence scared the crap out of her. As she wasn't pro marriage for so long, sounds as though independence is incredibly important to her.

    3. She felt helpless and vulnerable. Getting a semblance of control back has focused on money because it's not about you, because you've been wonderful.

    4. She's wondering whether you need her as much as she's needed you. Making out you've been a bit daft with money (when you haven't) allows her to think that you do need her.

    5. She's seen how wonderful you are, got broody and is trying to either get everything just right for that subject to be brought up - or is trying to convince herself that it's a really, really daft idea.

    6. She's mad.

    Pick and mix. And the nuclear option;

She hasn't been off her food in the morning, has she? Complaining of funny smells? Looking a bit more endowed 'up top'? (Obviously, if she has, none of these must EVER be referred to in any way, shape or form, EVER)
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

Those all seem like quite reasonable suggestions.

I suppose I would have expected stir crazy related things to occur while she was still stuck. She's been back to moving about now pretty normally for a couple of weeks, albeit a little slower than normal but she's still got physio for a while yet to build her confidence and muscle back up.

And yes, her independence is very important to her. She's told me off in the past for spending too much money on her because it made her feel bad - in fact, I think that may have been my first post on this forum way back when - so I suppose that's a possibility.

And I suppose, maybe, on a similar note maybe she's concerned about what would happen if... She fell threw a window when she hurt herself, it hasn't really escaped my mind what might have happened were she facing the other way and gone through that window and I doubt it has entirely escaped hers. Maybe, I suppose, she's just worried what would happen if something happened to me and I have all these financial commitments. Perhaps I need to show her better that I already have that taken care of?

I do need her. I mean look at me, it's my day off and all I can find to do is watch pointless Top 10 lists on Youtube and dawdle around on here. I'm glad she's back at work now but I miss her; everything's boring with her. I never told her because I didn't want her to feel bad but when she was in New Zealand for a year everything really was kinda crap. :D

Can't say I've noticed her being much more well endowed up top, or off her food or anything... though she did complain of a strange smell the other day but I think that might have been one of the dogs.
