Don't know if you have been to the lakes before, but they are still beautiful even in the rain. If you get chance, try to visit Beatrix Potters house, and William Heelis' office where the original Peter Rabbit drawings are kept.

Hope you have a good time

Thanks, charlies mum. I have been to the lakes before, but DH & DS haven't. Both those places are on my list to visit though. I think they may be National Trust, so will be free as we are members. Hopefully with so much of the lake district being NT it will be an economical holiday!
Have a lovely time in Dorset!

    Good Morning ALL

Congratulations to Grannybroon on becoming a Granny again. He sounds adorable. Give the wee man a cuddle from me, and a big hug for yourself at the same time
PenPen - hope DH takes the news of the death ok! (as well as he can do I guess) IYSWIM
Amie - glad the funeral went well.
Thriftlady - I thoroughly enjoyed Army Cadets when I joined. Best thing I ever did, really enjoyed the camps, walks, weapon training, first aid, map reading, etc. That was about 18yrs ago! It prepared me for my life in the ARMY! Like it was mentioned, they wont tolerate bad behaviour. I managed to get some Cadet boots from ebay for around £15 incl p&p, for a friends daughter who joined!
csarina think twice about leaving please!

Visit to DS senior school went well, we found out which class he will be in, and who will join him, I think he's a little dis-appointed that he's not in the same form as Dlb's son. But like I said, they can walk to/from school and have play times also to catch up on! Ive made a list of what he needs for school and what he's allready got! So Im hoping it wont be a major expense!

My mum has noticed signs of my depression. I dont think Im coping too badly! But Im sensible enough to know the difference between coping and suffering, having gone through it before! I will see how things go!

More washing on, pork chops and baked spuds for dinner later!
    School run now
    Take care
    Love Emma xxx

I didnt know that about the 'break a leg' catznine :) thanks

Well I have an on line training module to do today :o DD has just gone to school and DDog is curled up asleep on the arm of my chair ( all she does is sleep ) Im still waiting to hear about 2 jobs that I have interviewed for - its getting a bit difficult to keep my hopes up as it has been a while since I actually attended the interviews. No car today till later so Im hoping the nice weather will stay so I can get out on my bike to pop some repeat prescription in at the doctors and pick up a few bits from Tescos. I have fallen off the meal planning bandwagon this week big style  next week is another week so I will get back on then. As there is still no sign of a job Im going to have to buy a car next week. I have been getting by renting for the odd week over the last couple of months but Im going to have to face it and get a car as it is dead money now. I havent got a clue where to start so if anybody has any suggestions I would be grateful. I need a car that I can fit all of the camping equipment in as well as myself, DD and DDog ( she sits on DD's lap though ) I was thinking of getting a Rav4 because I think they look nice but havent got a clue how old to get one so I think it will have to be from a garage so that I am covered. Then it is the insurance - I have always had a company car and have never insured myself. This wouldnt normally be a problem but somebody rear ended me in January and the claim still hasnt been sorted out

Right I will stop rambling on now and get started.

    Have a lovely day everybody

edited to say hello to those who were quicker typers than me and to say :hello: to csarina if you are looking in - come back soon

Morning all, though no AMIE yet! Hope you're OK, AMIE?
DONNY - sorry about DH's tooth but glad his shoulder is on the mend. Have a great weekend.
JET - hope your DD is better soon.
PENPEN - Good luck for DD in her musical!
    GRANNYBROON - congratulations!

Well, DH groaned and looked full of despair when I showed him the damage to my car (caused when I made a right pig's ear of reversing off the drive!) but he had to laugh when I said 'I bet you're thrilled that I'M not hurt or damaged, aren't you?'! Anyway, fortunately, he's so laid back that I know I've been forgiven, although I heard him on the phone describing the damage to his brother, saying 'Don't know how she managed it, she had the whole drive to herself!' My excuse is that I'm only 5'3", he's 6'4" so has a much better view of all the corners on the car! Anyway, crisis over - or, nearly over - we'll have to get a quote to repair it and see whether to claim on the insurance.

Our dinner tonight is being cooked for us by DS2 and his GF at their house - I'm just taking the pudding which will be Rhubarb Grunt found in the indexed collections yesterday. Looks yummy and is made with double cream! I'll also take them a loaf of HM bread because they like it. If it's not raining (ha,ha!) I've been asked to advise them on their garden.

Did loads of paperwork yesterday and kept going on it all evening so ended up feeling quite virtuous. Still didn't sleep well, though, and think I may have spilled some lavender oil on my pillow so I must have been overdosing! I'm changing the sheets today and will change my pillow as well. I should sleep better tonight especially as we'll crack open a bottle of wine, brought back from France!

Woke up to perfect blue sky and sunshine with white fluffy clouds (you know, the sort of weather we get in summer!) but the clouds are thickening up now so I know it won't last. Have loads of washing - sheets, towels, etc. which will end up in the TD.

Anyway, must go now; need to get the bedrooms finished. I still have my big bathroom cupboard to sort out and then I'm going to sort out the photos of DS1's wedding. I'll go through Quidco and use one of the photo companies on their list.

Will call in when I have my next cuppa!

Hope you all have a good morning!

Morning. Very late today, well down the list. But I was on late shift and so I tend not to wake up so early.. Then it's bin day, so that to do, and so on..... It's rainign again, no surprise there. fed up with it, but what are you going to do?
They are felling loads of trees near here and the word is that us locals can have 3 trailor loads each ....free!! I am trying to confirm this as I could have fire wood for the next 3 years by the looks of it. My chainsaw is itching to go....
Work later... have a happy day.

Good morning everyone!! Hope it's sunny where you are?

Just getting the 3 little mutants ready to pop out and get the last of DD1's school uniform as she will be starting in September. Plan to change all the kids beds/cots today, hoover and clean their room and do the ironing (about an hours worth). DD1 will be at playgroup this afternoon and DD2 and DD3 will nap so hopefully should get it all done.
Making a dinner I saw someone mention on here - Gammon steaks with pinapple on top , runny egg and chips. I know it's not exactly a home made triumph but I cooked from scratch the last 2 nights (meals I also found on here) so not too worried, and at least it's something I've never made before so DH is pleased!
Got two nice freebies this morning (a lip gloss and a razor for DH) in the post so all in all a good start to the day.

Hope you all have a good one and achieve all you want to.........

Yes, they are both National Trust - take your trust guide with you as there are some lovely places around there to visit.

    Morning all

Congrats on the new GS Granny Boon - he sounds lovely.

    Hugs to those in need.

Having a slow start today - spent all day doing the kitchen yesterday so thought I'd have half an hour online this morning before I crack on with the hoovering. In a fit of madness I threw away the kitchen curtains yesterday - they're very faded now as we get the full sun in there for most of the day....means that I now need to make some more  (seemed like such a good idea at the time!) Got plenty of fabric so will get the machine out later and see what I can come up with.

Had a lovely dinner last night - did a huge vat of chilli - enough left for a chilli pasta bake tonight and 2 portions in the freezer....with it we had potato peelings :D Scrubbed some potatoes the other night - peeled them and used them for mash - kept the peelings in water in the fridge until last night - rinsed and dried them off and coated in oil, chilli flakes and oregano and roasted them until they were crisp - very moorish and a great way to use up something that would normally get thrown away.

DD's have youth club disco tonight so DH and I get a whole 2 hours alone ;)

Hope you all have a great day.

Choc chip cookies are out of the oven and ready for eating. First batch of Twinks also nearly ready for eating, second batch just cooling on the tray.

Fencemen have arrived, so I'll make them a cuppa and see what they make of the biccies.
