Gt, you have been a part of MSE for so long many of us feel we know you and your brood. It is very hard to read the pain that comes through in your posts. Whatever gets you through the days is what you need to do.
I really hope that MSE and posters who know you well can be some kind of comfort or refuge. You know we will try.0 -
Gravity, I don't really 'know' you on MSE but I am so so sorry for the loss of your beautiful daughter Martha. Your tribute in the above post made me cry.
I don't have any advice but I hope your friends and family allow you to talk about Martha without them flinching. When my friends' teenage son died, I know how very important it was for them to be able to include him in normal conversation, without people getting all awkward about it. Some people don't know how to react to a tragic death like this - but it sounds like your community is being very supportive.
I don't know what else to say except, my goodness, I'm so sorry. I can't begin to imagine your pain and grief.0 -
I'm so sorry Gravity your posts brought tears to my eyes as a mother to two daughters i can only imagine the utter devastation you must feel. Martha sounded a spirited young lady her absence must leave a huge hole in your life. I truly hope you get some peace xxxITV comp winner no 410

Love never dies, Gravity. People do. Love doesn't. It's here for everyone to see. In a smile, in a word, even in hate there is love. It's all around us, because we're human. Grab on to the love. That's all you can do, that's all anybody can do. I'm thinking of you. x0

Oh Gravity, I started reading your post above about Martha and welled up. I'm so sad I'm never going to get a chance to met her, she sounds such a wonderful daughter on the brink of an exciting adulthood. (((Hugs))) for you and your family.Better is good enough.0

Oh Gravity how dreadful for you and the whole family.
My Mum was one in a million and, sadly, a member of the club too, she actually lost 3 children along the way and I just don't know how she dealt with it.
My elder brother's (15 & 23) died in a boating accident when I was almost 7. Mum dealt with it in her own way by making sure that we continued to talk about them, we still do. She explained to me that nobody was dead as long as somebody remembered them, I have never forgotten that. I have their photo's around the house, some other precious things that remind me of them too, and still remember them vividly.
One of the scariest things was moving out of our family home in my 20's. I was worried that their memories would stay there and not come with me. It was a huge relief to wake up the next morning knowing that they were still with me.
People ask how you cope with tragedy. Who knows the answer to that, but you continue to breathe in and out and you continue to put one foot in front of the other. Eventually the pain eases but you never, ever, forget.
We still have all the wonderful cards and letters we were sent. It was too painful to read them for many years but they are now treasured. We kept press cuttings too but I find them too clinical and impersonal.
Sorry for rambling, but I wanted to give you a siblings perspective too as I saw Martha has brother's and sister's.:j Proud Member of Mike's Mob :j0 -
