I hope the Scots don't exclude us from the Xmas Haggis comps

my reasons for voting yes too.
I doubt many competitions would change as companies would continue to operate in SCotlandBest Wins - New York Trip, going Nov 2014: £350 House of Frazer Vouchers: £70 Handbag: Nitro Circus Live Tickets0 -

Even if they did it would be a small price to pay for your freedom.0 -
Maybe they'd outlaw 'purchase necessary' comps... I think that should be first on their agenda. That and rebuilding Hadrian's Wall a bit further north this time.0

I was wondering if anyone knew what would happen if Scotland went independent in September with regards to comping? Would us scots not be allowed to enter comps for UK residents?
Couple of points, mostly due to my nitpicking nature which I know you have all come to love so well:-
If Scotland votes for independence there would no longer be an "United Kingdom". Thus no residents of the UK.
Competition entry I believe cannot be dependant on a person's nationality so "Scots" could not be excluded per se but people resident in Scotland could be.
I feel the no campaign are missing a trick here if they haven't mentioned the loss of comping opportunities to an independent Scotland.Rational judgement, now, at this very moment.

If Scotland votes for independence in September it could take a considerable time before independence actually takes place. Companies with no presence in Scotland may well restrict prizes to the rest of the UK (and vice versa). Companies that are UK wide are likely to split away a "Scottish Division" for tax and regulatory reasons and will probably have their own responsibility for comps in Scotland, and in theory, prizes would be proportionately lower. eg. ITV and UTV might have a £45,000 prize and STV would have a £5,000 prize whereas they currently have a combined £50,000 prize. This would be even more likely if Scotland were not to continue using the pound. Scotland would also need a replacement for the ASA and IPM and though it wouldn't be a priority, they could even change the laws on competitions such as taxable prizes (USA), mandatory NPN entry (NI), mandatory skill questions (Canada).0

Independence day is set for March 2016 which is a bit quicker than the 104 years it took between the two kingdoms sharing a king and the act of union.Rational judgement, now, at this very moment.

Currently you have a vote and not much say in anything else. Not sure why you think you'll have more power/say in anything than you do now.
I actually think it should be up to everyone in the UK to vote. It affects them too.
Born and bred in Edinburgh but proud to be British so it'll be a big fat X in the no box from me!
I don't think many promoters would exclude Scotland from it's comps should it become independent.0 -
