ok, well it was still a bar of chocolate, just not a huge bar. It was a normal size bar that you ate. So you had 3 bars, not 2.

    Still not really several though

And it doesn't happen all the time either

Yes, this is exactly what I mean. I want to not only lose weight, but be healthy and maintain the weightloss.
If I cut out all treats, I would never be able to do it, a life without chocolate and wine is not one that I like the sound of :D But I am OK with only having 1 bar of chocolate twice a week (for example) and 2-3 glasses of wine per week.

Maintenance is my top priority, along with being healthy. That's why I am not aiming for a quick fix or eating loads of sugar :)

That's how I managed to lose my lard :-D

I couldn't go a day without sweets/chocolate, but know that a full bar or bag would account for too many of what I was allowing myself calorie-wise, so I chose (still do) smaller ones e.g. curly wurly or jelly tots. I still get my fix an it doesn't damage my weight loss.

Keeping it off is so much harder than losing it!

I would imagine keeping it off would be easier for me as my maintenance calories wouldn't be too low

I'm just going purely for weight loss

Why? What's your reason for wanting to loose weight but remain unhealthy?

A junk food diet will show in your skin and energy levels. It doesn't matter if you reach your goal weight, you still won't look that great.

Am I right in thinking that you also have some health issues? I really don't understand why you are treating your body so badly by filling it with crap when it is already struggling.

Even if you have a junk food day, you should still at least try and eat some vegetables.

It does come across as if you don't really care about yourself very much. Your current diet is laying the foundations for all sorts of future health problems.

yeah I can imagine it is!

I would love to join the gym and have PT advice, but I don't really think that I have time. And I don't think I can leave the kids at home alone, they are 14 and 10, what do you think? I really would love to be fit and toned as well as slim.

how many calories are you aiming for (daily) at the moment Tink? I don't count calories, is it difficult to work out?

I go 6 days a week, but I can see how difficult it is to make time for the gym when you have kids. I would never have a pop at anyone for being too busy with kids and family as they're just as important as good health. I never went to the gym before my son moved out to go to Uni.

I've so much spare time now that he's not living here that I'm never out of the place. I work full time but go every evening and most of Saturday morning. I do cardio, weights, HIT, circuits, boot camp, PT group sessions and Body Pump. Sounds a lot but it's just my routine these days. If I can't go in the evening for some reason, I'll make an effort to go early doors before work.

It helps that my husband (usually) comes to the gym with me, and that I've made some gym pals :-) The fit, muscly men don't do much harm, either ;-)

My naturally skinny husband has been amazingly supportive through the whole thing, and I wouldn't have been able to get where I am without that.

One nectarine won't protect you against colon cancer. :(

It's not hard, I bought a food journal from amazon, it has columns for food, amount, calories, fat, carbs, fibre, protein, sodium etc then you can add the totals at the bottom

I'm aiming for anywhere between 1200-2000 it depends on how hungry (or not) I am, no point sticking to too low a calorie if I'm hungry or too high a calorie if I'm not very hungry
