    Morning All :)

I agree with both sides of the argument. Cutting everything out doesn't work for me either, I just crave what I think I cant have. However, I would not say that eating several chocolate bars in 1 day is conducive to weight loss or more importantly, healthy living.

I am losing weight slowly, about 1lb a week, sometimes 2lbs a week. But what's just as important is that I am doing it in a healthy way. Loads of fruit and veg, wholewheat carbs etc.

Last night was a 1 off thing (3 glasses of wine, 2 slices of pizza and a packet of choc raisins), and I am happy for it to be an occasional thing.

Is 1lb a week too slow do you think(I am asking the reformed skinnies :D)?
1lb a week is ideal, that's what my mum did, any more than that is unrealistic and setting yourself up to fail as you'll get disheartened.

    I need to lose about 2 1/2 - 3 stone and I'm going for 1 lb a week.

    Aiming for a size 8:D

    Thanks gunsandbanjos,

I was wondering if I should aim for more, but 1lb feels right for me as it means that I am not having to make drastic changes, but enough of a change to be healthier and see some weight loss.

I think i'll be a size 12 when I lose this stone, I am now a 14. I would love to get into a 10, but we'll see how I feel when I lose the stone first :)

    211.8 carbs
    107.6 fat
    2.8 fibre

That is 3 bars of chocolate, plus 3 packets of crisps.

Anyway, I am not going to moan at you Tink. We all have different way of losing weight. All I am saying is that I want to be healthy as well as slim, you obviously don't.
That's OK, its your journey that you need to concern yourself with (as you are doing) and the same for me.

The dairy milk was not a bar, it was squares from a bar

When I buy a bar of dairy milk, they are 6 squares. Do you mean that it was not the whole bar (with the bar being a very large one, not the normal choc bar size)?

Because to me, 6 squares IS a bar!

I agree with you. Depriving yourself of things you like and cutting stuff completely from your diet means you're more likely to go off the rails on a binge. BUT we still need to rein it in a bit, and cut down on those things. After all, eating too much of them are the reason we got overweight in the first place. For example, I decided not to give up drinking, because I like it, and it would be unrealistic. I don't drink every night, though. Just once a week, and only more than that for "occasions" such as birthdays, eating out and the like.

Yes, this is exactly what I mean. I want to not only lose weight, but be healthy and maintain the weightloss.
If I cut out all treats, I would never be able to do it, a life without chocolate and wine is not one that I like the sound of :D But I am OK with only having 1 bar of chocolate twice a week (for example) and 2-3 glasses of wine per week.

Maintenance is my top priority, along with being healthy. That's why I am not aiming for a quick fix or eating loads of sugar :)

ok, well it was still a bar of chocolate, just not a huge bar. It was a normal size bar that you ate. So you had 3 bars, not 2.
