I can see why they say waters good for weight loss lol

We don't get up till 12-1pm so should it not be later for us?

I've had to drink a can of diet Pepsi to take the headache away

If you have to drink a can of diet Pepsi to take a headache away then you have a problem! That's bad. Try to give up caffeine completely for a couple of weeks. It will be massively and horribly hard but I promise you, it will make a huge difference. Reintroduce it slowly and work out what your limit is.

I spent years and years with severe sleep problems. I had sleep paralysis, night terrors, exploding head syndrome, false awakenings....you name and I had it. It got to the point where I was terrified of going to bed. I gave up caffeine completely for about 2 months and it was like having a whole new life. I do have some now but nothing after 3. I drink earl grey tea and the caffeine free version is much nicer than normal decaf tea.

Are you on shift work? Is that why you don't get up till 12/1?

I agree, try and get through the caffeine withdrawals, it will be better for you in the end.

Just give up the fizzy drinks instead and have things like fruit squash?

I'm starting to feel uncomfortable posting in this thread. It's incredibly difficult to convey my meaning to people when I don't know what their knowledge of food and nutrition is. I think I'm perhaps alienating some people with my comments. I'm truly sorry.

It's far easier for me to advise a person when I have their full food diary in front of me and I think I've fallen foul to that on occasions here by commenting on the little evidence some people give.

I'm not an advisory service here, and certainly not an unpaid one, so I think I'll start taking a back seat in threads like this as I feel it wastes everyone's time, but more importantly my own.

Your knowledge and advice is great to read Chameleon :)

You might doubt that your advice is well received at times but a lot of us love to read it and learn a lot.

Try and cut out the fizzy drink full stop, apart from caffeine and even without caffeine, theres all sorts of nasties added, really not good for you.

    Ahh caffeine

I'm lucky in that I hate coffee so the only caffeine I get is from Pepsi max, which I'm trying to give up. For the most part I've switched to water, but I still let myself have one 500ml bottle as a treat at work.

I seem to be sleeping a bit better since cutting down

It's after say half a pint of water that I have to go

I'm not planning in getting rid of them forever but for the time being they are gone

Re the weeing, it partly depends on your bladder tone. Some people can just hold more urine in their bladder than others.
With the crisps, if you don't eat them for a while you may just find that you lose the taste for them. I used to love Pringles (could eat a whole tube of them in an hour or so), now I don't even like them. With other crisps just 2 or 3 is enough for me. I still love doritoes though, so I just buy them for special occasions for my kids and me.

I drink fizzy pop a few times a week, but it is sugar free and aspartame free. Normally Sainsburys own pink lemonade or cream soda.

Ha ha! Only a true animal lover disrupts their sleep pattern to spend time with their pets!

Yes, Pepsi do a caffeine free version. The caffeine free diet coke tastes just like the normal diet coke. Can't vouch for the Pepsi version as I can't bear the stuff. It tastes too much like normal coke which I can't abide! I'm sure it will taste the same.

I'm not a fan of decaf coffee but I don't mind it in an iced coffee. Decaf tea is awful unless it's earl grey, but I've gone off normal tea since I started on the earl grey. Lemon and ginger tea is lovely too.

I know I keep harping on but it's so worth it. It will be awful for a couple of days, I had a migraine on day two but it's worth it. Be careful when you first introduce caffeine back though. Be prepared for the jitters! I would suggest after that, avoiding caffeine for about 6 hours before you plan on going to bed.

Bear in mind that the body naturally wants to sleep at night so forcing yourself to stay up and then sleeping in the day is counter productive. You can't look after your babies if you are ill. :)
