The reason you're finding it so hard is because you're being far too impatient. If you're trying to lose 15lb of fat in 8 weeks that's a calorie defecit of 950kcal/day! All the comments on the subject I've seen from dietitians in the media seem to be recommending a defecit of 250kcal/day, which equates to about 0.5lb/week.
My wife, has been checking my weight to see how effective my diet is, and refuses to accept that loosing 0.5 kg (1.1lb) in a week is enough. I've Lost about 6 kg's since christmas, and my vague target of loosing 20kg's will take at least til next christmas.
I wouldn't mind but she's a health professional.0 -

Isn't 1-2lb a healthy amount to lose per week anyway? Whereas if it was nearer 5 or something, it wouldn't healthy.

I've just found a pair of trousers that I haven't worn for 3 years, and are smart enough for work, so that's a result, as 2 pairs of work trousers are now embarrisingly big.0 -

no offence but that is crazy thinking. No one will lose that kind of weight week after week unless you are on the biggest loser. Even then they dont manage it sometimes.

One of the GPs at my surgery thinks it's ok for me to live on less than 1000 calories for the rest of my life :eek: that kind of thinking from professionals is quite worrying :eek:

The risk with losing weight too quickly is that a person is more likely to put it back on again rather than maintain.
