Was there something in particular, which made you start to change your eating habits and attitude to food?

How long had you struggled with your weight, before then?

Yes, when I was diagnosed with T2 diabetes in 2008. Which, by the way, has now been "in remission" for the past 4 years since I got my act together and lost the excess weight. I no longer take meds for it but still get bloodwork done regularly and my HbA1C is usually around 5 mmol/L.

I maintained a fairly healthy weight (although I had an eating disorder in my teens/twenties) throughout my earlier life but during a bad period of ill health about 10 years ago my weight ballooned and my physical health suffered. Quite simply, I didn't want to die prematurely from a situation beyond my control. Which is rather ironic considering the times I've actually attempted suicide! :)

My dad had type 2 as well, he also got rid of it by changing his diet and losing weight

I'd have it with mushrooms, onions & beans as 1/3 of my plate has to be superfree veg.

You do know there's almost 600 kcal in half a sheet of just-rol puff pastry alone, before you add any toppings?

The recommended portion size is 50g so that's approx a sixth of a sheet. I really don't know what to say if you're telling me you're eating half of that in one day

I'm astounded that anyone on a low calorie diet would waste calories on pastry. If you are restricting calories, you need to make sure ALL those calories have a nutritional value.

I'd ditch the pastry & eat half the topping with a massive green salad.
