:rotfl:I loved my grill marks last night!

Another successful purchase. I'm liking how we are now thinking about purchases for a while before buying. It means we only buy things we really want, and then enjoy using them.

We went out for a walk this morning. When we can back, we noticed that Virgin had done some preparation work for the installation already. A cable had been laid from the pavement to the house.

    They are very keen!

That'll be you in a few weeks! :j

We went on the train to Herne Bay yesterday.

It's not particularly picturesque or quaint, like some seaside towns, but it was nice to walk along the front, and sit on a bench to eat our packed lunch.

I had a letter from Talk Talk, confirming that my service was going to be cancelled, so it looks as if Virgin told them after all. But I phoned Talk Talk just to make sure, and the service will be terminated on 20th July. I've also requested a returns bag so I can send back the test modem they sent.

    So far, so good.

Not much else to report, except a pile of ironing to do this evening

My wife and I are starting to get to this point. :) Certain things we don't think about too much if we can sell on for a profit (cars ... ;)) but purchases that mean spending money we'll never see back, much more thought is going into it. Hope I can teach my son not to be reckless with money when he is older, as I'm not convinced it's a very healthy place to be in.
    2018 totals:
    Savings £11,200
    Mortgage Overpayments £5,500

Alex, the best thing my dad did for me was encouraging me to save. It is very addictive and I've never really stopped. I still haven't got the pony which I started saving for about 20 years ago - that's a purchase that requires a lot of thinking!

Goldie I'm interested in your TV and broadband updates as I hope to change ours in August or September. I'm glad it's all going smoothly so far!

Hi GG, will virgin communicate with t@lkt@lk on your behalf. We recently switched from 8t to 0range and they offered to do that. I still spoke to 8t to make sure we didn't get any of their very unpopular cancellation charges though.

I always imagined switching broadband would be 'difficult', but Virgin are doing everything for us, including cancelling Talk Talk. Although I did double check with Talk Talk just in case. We are out of contract with TT, so there were no cancellation fees

At one time Herne Bay was just a station to me as well.

As a child we holidayed in Margate for many years. It would be a train journey from our south Essex hometown to Tilbury Riverside, then the Tilbury ferry to Gravesend, then Gravesend to Margate on the train. The train passed through many stations that are now local to me, including the town where I live now.

We received all the login details for the 'Government Gateway' and have been able to claim Mr Goldie's state pension :T

Yesterday I had a big Asda stock - up shop delivered. So I now have loo rolls everywhere, but I love that full shelf feeling.

Apart from that, just been doing gardening, walking, relaxing sort of things
