"Just a bit small and maybe slow... ", a phrase I've never heard from a car enthusiast seriously looking for a car.

The bigger and faster the better!

Gentlemen, I have a new barge!

2003 Sonata V6, 60k. Good (but not quite full) service history, cambelt has about 18 months left on it. Recent discs and pads all round (which are amazing :p )

Drove it about 100 miles back today, silky smooth and silent, then kickdown and it produces a lovely V6 roar!

Bad points - rusty wheel arches. One not so bad, the other worse. Not rotten and falling apart but I'll get a quote from a bodyshop.

Aircon doesn't work, and when fan is set to the max setting on the climate control it just stops altogether. Hoping its just a regas but I suspect its something more expensive.

Autobox fluid doesn't look like its been done recently, but is clean. Book says it needs doing every 6 years/60k or something. Hmm.

Autobox works fine. I am never buying a manual ever again. :p

I'll let you guess the price so I can see how badly I've done. :D
  • £770 tops, assuming 12 months MOT an 6 months tax :)

Also it has this weird thing called 'smartnav', which is a trafficmaster satnav type thing. Requires a subscription though.

£120, but the price of scrap does fluctuate.

This one below looks like its been repaired at some point, doesn't look very nice but is solid.

What do we think? Are they really horrendous? Its just the back 2 btw, not the fronts, they're perfect.

Just removed half a peat bog from behind them which explains something. I'll jet wash behind them properly then cover them with waxoyl for the time being.

Oh also , it has a recent receipt that says 'limp home mode', bottom pulley replaced.' What on earth is a bottom pulley? Alternator belt?
  • I'd leave the arches as is TBH.

At that price, with that MOT and Tax, you cant really fail.
