I would ask Captain & Tennille :p what the name of this website is, specifically the S, and with that known then ask why should we tell people to just pay these speculative, unenforceable invoices?

It money saving expert its in massive red writing on the top of the page.

I personally don't see the problem with these fines, the landowners have instructed a firm to manage the car park on their behalf.

These threads moaning about parking fines just seem rediclious, the landowners need to make a return or they won't offer these parking services and you'll end up with no parking at all giving small businesses in towns a even harder time than they already have.

Trying to get one over these companies has no long-term benefits, just harm

Retailers who use these companies gain no long-term benefits, just harm

Just corrected that for you as you obviously have no clue about retailers or customer service.

WOW, i never thought about it like that you obviously know about retailers, customer service, and running a business

Yep that's right, running your own company for years gives you a good insight on how retail works and customer service.

As you already know by victimising people who are willing to invest in businesses has a very bad end leading to empty high streets and empty stores and business parks but I don't need to tell you that because you already know.

Hit the nail on the head there. Glad you've finally realised.
One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.

Back on track. We need to help the op. It wasn't about being a customer, it was about overstaying. Possibly by more than a couple of minutes, so clearly whether PE have moved the goalposts by half an hour doesn't really matter. The op appears never to have shopped at any Aldi, so even trying to claim goodwill isn't an option. (Maybe that's where the customer mix up came in). They also appear not to be clued up on the process to go through, and have missed most of them. Any help on that?

So how does slapping people with a "fine" help with car park management? By the time the motorist gets it, they've already left the car park so any problem they may have caused is in the past. And the recipient of said "fine" will - as has been seen on here many times - likely vow to never return to the retail park in question. They'll probably tell their friends and family how the retailer has treated them too.

As for landowners making a return, most of the profit from PPC "management" ends up in the pocket of the PPCs. We're not generally talking about small companies either; the likes of Aldi and the Range are getting some seriously bad publicity where genuine shoppers have fallen foul of the PPC that's taken root in their car park. You can find it all over this Forum, and Aldi's Facebook page (when their moderators aren't frantically deleting complaints).

Even if these car parks are occasionally mid-used, there are more intelligent ways to solve the problem than letting a PPC harass anyone who has the temerity to spend too long in your store.

Off topic here. - op never went into the store, so can we help with this?

It's called a deterrent a bit like a speeding fine or are they a massive scam too

Captain - if you can't see a difference between a council or the police issuing a speeding ticket, under statutory powers, and a private company issuing a pseudo-"fine" based on their imaginary rules, there is no point debating this.

Nobby - you are correct. The OP has 2 options that I can see. First, wait for court papers from PE, then ask the court to refer PE to POPLA as an ADR. This has already worked in a number of cases. However the OP has already ignored advice and managed to miss one POPLA deadline which suggests this could end badly. In this case I would say option 1 is a risk. Much as I hate to say this, the OP's best option is probably to swallow that bitter pill and give them the money - it's probably too late to use the new http://www.parkingticketappeals.org.uk appeal service at this stage.

EDIT (Incidentally, in terms of appealing, it never mattered whether the OP visited the store, which has nothing to do with PE's right - or lack of - to issue these charges. This is laid out in the Stickies)
