I didnt know the area, I don’t live near there! A friend did know the area and has parked there many a time. Its a new policy to her!
I have been under an enormous amount of stress and misplaced the letter. If I have to now pay, I pay. It was an honest mistake!! I came here asking advice - and a lot of lovely people on here have tried to help without belittling me, Thank you.0 -
I haven't belittled you. You can always take different advice from this forum and continue to fight. If it's a new policy, and there is no visible signage, you should have a very good chance. But you have to be able to have your day in court.0

Next time I head into town, I might just park in somebody's driveway as long as there are no signs that meet ATA code of practice
It doesn't make the charge any more lawful. The whole industry is a SCAM. They have reaped what they sowed.
Let's also remember that some Aldi car parks allow you to park there WITHOUT using the store thanks to council planning permission. Aldi don't like it and they sometimes ignore it but that is the way it is."The darkest places in hell are reserved for those who maintain their neutrality in times of moral crisis." - Dante Alighieri0 -

No, its not where I live, its in an area my friend lives and she always used to park there with no problems. Its must be newish rules?
This is hard work! Have you or a relative, friend, neighbour, colleague, NO RECEIPTS FROM ANY ALDI AT ALL ANY WEEK, that you could send to Aldi Customer Service, to show you are a regular customer who that day just browsed, bought a drink etc., and met a friend?
Come on they often cancel when they see proof of regular custom at any Aldi. Don't miss this chance as well.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Okay, here’s my Parking Eye story – yet to be concluded.
I live right next to a recently-built Morrisons supermarket, and Parking Eye uses cameras to monitor the vast customer car park. I overstayed by over an hour, and I received an £85 charge (not a penalty, as I learned on this forum), which would be reduced to £50 if I paid promptly.
But here’s the rub…
The new supermarket has been open for over a year now, and I, and other tenants from my apartment block, have overstayed on numerous occasions with impunity, even though warning signage is visible. Heck, I even parked there overnight once, and nothing happened. I don’t know why we were never issued charges; maybe we tenants had special dispensation to park seeing as our free car park was taken off us when they built the new supermarket, or maybe Parking Eye had teething troubles. Anyway, no charges came.
Then I received a letter on 24th April notifying me of an overstay earlier that month, and warning me that any future breaches of parking regulations would result in a charge being issued. A few days later, I received a letter with a couple of lovely snaps of my car on it. I had overstayed by almost two hours on April 23rd – the day before I received the warning that future overstays would be charged. I explained all of this in a letter of appeal, but, as in most cases, this was dismissed.
But there is another factor in play here.
As I said, I my apartment block adjoins Morrisons car park. I have often come home to find all of the street parking taken up by Morrisons shoppers, because the street is a lot closer to the store entrance than the outer reaches of the car park. So while there are literally scores of free parking spaces available specifically for the use of Morrisons customers, many choose to ignore them and park in the street, preventing me from parking outside my home.
On several occasions, my only option has been to park in Morrisons car park, and move my car to the street when the shoppers have gone. Sometimes, as in the overnight stay, it slipped my mind that my car was in the supermarket car park, but since I received the warning letter, I have not put a tyre into that car park.
I think that it is grossly unfair that I am denied parking space because some of Morrisons customers are too lazy to walk from the boundary of the car park. I have been in touch with my local council and they are considering making the street a permit only parking area.
As for my parking charge, it remains unpaid. I am sending my appeal to POPLA tomorrow.
I learned a lot on this forum - thanks

Must be great to be so perfect! Mistakes happen!
So your mistake was accidnetly parking in a shops car park, and then accidentally forgetting to use the shop who's car park you parked your car in?
The car park is for paying customers, somebody has paid for that land and you can't expect to be able to use it as you like.
By your logic, people could just park anywhere they liked in people's driveways etc with out having to pay the landowner for the services.
IMO, you parked on somebody's land with no intention of using their shop or services on offer so you should pay the fine in full. I don't understand where you get the sense of entitlement to just go where you like."talk sense to a fool and he calls you foolish" - Euripides0 -

Maybe someone on here has a spare receipt they could send them, if they can't get one anywhere else?0 -
