  • Hi everyone...just a quick mid course mid week check in, to say thank you all for inspiring me to get into the swimming pool yesterday (I did a mile, 54 minutes, first time I've swam lengths for about 9 months) and today out for the shortest of runs (I did some warming up stuff, then 5 minutes out and raced myself to get back quicker). Only 20 min of exercise, but it was of the sweaty lycra wearing category. Felt I wobbled a lot and can't believe that 18 months ago I could run 10 miles, as this wiped me out. But, I was very glad to have got moving and get over that mental barrier. I hope to keep it up for the rest of this week, just gentle bits, by myself, and have started to make plans to meet people for joint exercise next week onwards! Scary mary.

NSD's are mounting up (I have included them where I will be reclaiming expenditure) and I avoided the course bar gathering tonight. Will go tomorrow but an early night and some catching up on emails suited me more tonight. I have also been logging into my cc account just to enjoy seeing the zeros there!!

I have decided to upgrade the course I am doing to a professional external qualification. If I do that off the back of the course, it will cost me £107 plus about 2 weekends of reading and extra work. If I was to do it off my own back in the future, it would cost me in excess of £1600. Its the kind of qualification that crosses a lot of types of jobs I'm interested in, so I think its a no brainer really - just need to find the money over the next 6 weeks.

Best of luck to everyone watching the pounds and the calories!

Today **will** be a SFD. I'm going to get my exercise because it's a lovely day so that'll be a good few miles under my belt :D

I now have £9.50 spending money left until the end of the month  The only planned outing which will cost me money is on Monday - a birthday lunch with work people. We've pre-ordered and mine costs £5 plus any tip, so in theory I should come in on budget.

    .

Not a SFD. Bought DH some new slippers, a new top for work and a T-shirt (to go with a pair of trousers I bought at the weekend on impulse) for myself and the online grocery shop comes tonight. Will do a Mr A shop tomorrow then Saturday and Sunday WILL be SFDs. Weather looks pants this weekend so have a DVD marathon planned for Saturday and mum is coming for tea on Sunday.

MrsGSR really hope it goes well for you tonight. I have had a weak knee all my life, hanging onto bannisters or railings when walking down stairs is a must or it will just go from under me - I am falling apart - so I know how you feel. Let us know how it goes tonight though.

Thanks NSK, it was ok, tiring but I think that's cos I was put on a section that is meant for light duties but actually requires more walking. It was even harder than working already spotted stock.
I'm going to ask my boss to put me on regular duties but with no cage dragging because thats quite hard. Also I felt a massive failure that I wasn't able to go any quicker!

Still waiting for news on the op, I hope it's not going to be too long.

Today was pay day so I've sorted all my money for May, I've also got ahead of myself and sorted payments for my children's activities for the rest of the school term so that will save me some money in the long run. Decided to take some money out of the joint account for food shopping as my account was taking a battering from it.

Still don't know how to get through to DH, I explain to him that he could afford some new shoes razor etc if he just looked after his money better. £600 on average he is just frittering away on nothing, or continued top up shops that he doesn't need to do. It's driving me insane, it's like he is aware of it but unable to do figure out what to do, I asked him if he wanted me to take car of his accounts and he just shrugged and told me "not to worry about it":mad::mad:

He got a CPP refund yesterday and I told him it's to go straight on his CC but I'm worried he will fritter it away again

MrsGSR I feel your frustration. My OH is exactly the same, he spends a his money in the first few days of each month and then had to borrow money for petrol etc from me. Just like yours mine fritters it away and had little/nothing to show for it.

Really looking forward to payday and being able to sort out my monies. I've spent way too much on the credit card this month so I'm planning on paying as much of that off as possible tomorrow, then the card is going back in the drawer and staying there. I'm a little worried as I know my 0% rate runs out this month or next and would like to avoid paying any interest so wondering whether to pay off the whole credit card using a combination of joint and my money and then pay for food on the credit card this month? Actually just realised that Aldee don't accept credit cards so that's a no go!

    Will keep thinking!

    Evening raindrops.

Sorry, we went away for the weekend (over to the west coast of Scotland). We used the holiday fund so didn't decimate the monthly budget.
However, the campsite I picked cause it had wifi never mentioned that it would cost £5 a day... so we coped with no wifi which is why I have been off the grid.

We are now broke. Well, we have £5.00 left in our food budget, however we go to Barcelona on Saturday and will be gone until 29th April then I leave on 30th April to head up to Lossie which means OH will have to fend for himself.
    ;)

We have had 13 spend-free days... mainly because we don't count holiday spends. We should reach 15 as we have 4 days for our Barcelona trip which is all planned spends.
    :D

I would love to join you all in your slimming plans. Any chance I can start on the 5th May and make it a 28 day challenge??
We head abroad on the 2nd June so need to be prepared for that. I am quite worried about looking awful cause we are going for a wedding and it will be extremely hot. I hate my body image sometimes.
    :(

Anyways... I will probably be on tomorrow, but can I be put on the May contenders list NSK.
I will be away when it starts so might not get the chance to join up before the 1st.
    :)

Hope everyone is doig okay and keep persevering raindrops. We're getting there.
    Hugs.

Hi everyone - a quick one from me as well. NSD's yesterday and today, still away on my course, all food included as it is a residential course (Why did we start the diet this week?), have just put my weeks washing on so I can wash and tumble dry it here before heading home tomorrow. This one load of outsourced washing expense makes me very happy!

There is a pool here on site so I have made the most of it, swimming a mile Tues night, running Wed night (12 min of effort), swimming this morning (1/2 mile) , running (14 min of effort) AND swimming (1/2 mile) tonight. Not big distances but big step for me just to have confidence being more active!

Off to charge up all my gadgets overnight :)

PS - Despite the free food, I have turned down a lot of biscuits and generally had fruit for puddings. It was pasty and chips for tea tonight so there wasn't really anywhere healthy to go with that one!!

I went to close an account today - had to go into a branch as it had been inactive for so long that they apparently didn't have my signature on record! Popped in before a parents evening and it all went very easily. I was asked if I wanted a cheque, cash or bank transfer. I asked what amount we were looking at - expecting about £57. The reply? £1058!! I opted not to carry the cash, and went for a cheque so I can look at it and grin inanely!

I also popped into the 99p and £ shops. I was looking to get 3 strong dog leads, to make my own TRX. The idea is brilliant (tho not my own!) but I need to find strong enough leads - I don't trust the ones that only go up to 30 kilos. Wouldn't want to go splat! Will keep looking.

It was a day off intensive exercise, but I've still reached about 13000 steps - not bad!

And although it wasn't a planned spendy day, i did walk past a bunch of charity shops, buy nowt from h&b cos what I was after wasn't in their penny sale, and only spend £6 in the £ shop. 4 Dora bks, a tin opener and some hair dye - first time I've seen some there that isn't pink, purple or black!!

Off to bed - parents evenings always leave me drained, however lovely they have been.

  • Am claiming a SFD for today - went to Subway for a coffee before catching the train this morning and they claimed I couldn't use subcard points for it, despite it being clearly stated on the subcard app!! So ended up paying for it, but on the way home popped into another one and did get my free coffee, plus they accidentally put the previous customers points on my card, so overall spent £1.50 to get 2 coffees and enough points for a 3rd - not bad really! I know coffee shops are bad, but I was aiming for a freebie so all good intentions.

No lycra exercise today, but walked to/from the station and to uni twice (forgot to return library book due today first time) so not feeling too guilty.
