short_bird, I'm sure kat will give you a number soon. Her mum's over to visit and it's her bday - so she's a tad distracted from her devotees!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0

Afternoon all,
I always seem to be too tired to post in the evenings, so I'm on my lunchbreak now and posting at work instead.
Here are my targets for the month:
1. 15 x NSDs (of course),
2. 30 x exercise - doing a '5k a day for 50 days' challenge (5x50),
3. Arrange to get new combi boiler fitted. Will cost in the short term but my existing boiler is on its last legs. My plumber fixed it just before Christmas and said it should last for a few weeks but it needs replacing, so I'm well over the few weeks limit,
4. £240 groceries,
5. £80 income from ebay,
6. 8 x walk to work,
7. 25 x declutter.
So far I have had 1 SFD, 3 exercise days and 2 walk to work days. Had a result today. A colleague is moving overseas and she is trying to sell all of her posessions on eb*y. She has a bed that cost £1,400 two years ago that she is trying to sell so I said I'd buy it from her. We agreed on £300. She is delighted and so am I. It also means she can have a bed to sleep on until she leaves which is a big bonus for her. I would never have paid that much for a bed so I'm chuffed to bits.
I managed to keep an accurate tally on all of my cash spends last month as well. Interestingly, most of it went on giving it away rather than on actual purchases. £20 to DS who was skint, £7.50 on work leaving collections and £20 to my sister for looking after my cats whilst I was away for the weekend. Technically I suppose this was buying a service but I still saved money and she doesn't have much so it seemed fair. Biggest cash extravagance was a curry out with friends but other than that just necessities like milk.
OK. Must crack on!
Hope everyone is feeling healthy and positive. xSealed Pot Challenge #8 £341.90

The 'no spending on CC' goal took a hit today, got to the supermarket till and realised my debit card was on my desk at home! Was stood there being very thankful I hadn't taken the CC out of my purse and panicking because I wasn't sure I remembered the PIN! Will pay it off as soon as it appears on online banking though.New graduate trying to get debt-free.

Evening!
Reporting in with SFD number 2.
It's nice to get to the point where doing pack lunches has become the norm rather than the exception, and frugality pretty much a way of life... for now at least.
I was wondering - for those who are now debt free - how did it feel to begin with? Did you feel guilty for buying things, after having had to go for so long without...? Does your quality of life improve? Do the debt worries just get replaced with something else, or do you genuinely feel like a weight has been lifted...?
Good job to everyone raking in the SFDs and living out your food cupboards!

Second spend free day today (2/15, this is 2 more than I usually manage). Spent on car parking yesterday, but now done until september with that particular expense. Hoping for another spend free day tomorrow, but then will have to spend on the car on saturday. Roll on payday!Proud to be debt free September 2014. :j

Well done everyone so far - really interesting to see what other people are challenging themselves with means I have added some more to my list but keeping these more theoretical!
Finding the NSD challenge tough - 1/3 so far - must try harder on this one!
Will use the weekend to catch up on some of the other items on my list - looking forward to ticking some more items off and giving my house/garden a spring clean and tidy up
I've just topped up this years ISA before the cut off, I have left myself with very little money for the rest of the month hopefully will stop me being tempted to spend.
Keep up with the NSDs and your other goals!0 -
Quick post to claim 2/15 NSD and 3/13 LTW. have spent on shopping but need to add up the receipts to see what I have actually spent.
Will sort out my freezer (again) over the weekend as I have lots of ready meals - home made of course - and lots of meat/fish. Will make a meal plan for the rest of the month at the same time.
NSK hope you and Mumsy are having a lovely time and that your birthday present to yourself arrives tomorrow as planned :j
Nearly the weekend so have a great Friday everyone.
