Who is the Breadwinner?

I like to think of myself as pretty liberal and modern, but I am sure I would feel bad if the Wife was earning more than the Husband. But then I guess it would depend on how much more. A few thousand isn't a big difference but when it is getting on five or even twenty thousand, it's pretty hard going
Discuss.
Poll open for 30 days only.
EDIT: Just to add, I specifically didn't want a middle ground as many people would choose this. If you earn exactly the same, perhaps think about other income or don't vote :P
This is a flawed poll - full stop.
There are other options that you have chosen to ignore.
If you really wanted an accurate picture then you would have offered all the possibilities... you obviously have a chip on your shoulder and have something to prove.
As someone else has said, contribution is not just about money. Some partners would never be able to work the hours / shifts etc if the other half (male or female) wasn't there to support them.
I suddenly feel like I'm back in the 50s.:hello:0 -

So you deliberately want a skewed result? How odd.loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.0 -

He's feels it VERY acutely and is really embarrassed by it.
Same for us, chances are I'll remain main wage earner being further ahead than him due to being lucky in finding the job I love early on. Sure sometimes it'd be nice if it weren't all on me, but neither would I like to be at the whim of someone else's earning.
I encouraged him to stop earning and go to uni as he hated the previous job. Better to have less money but a happier DH and lucikly that's how it's turned out so far, so been worth it.Met DH to be 2010

My godmother once sent my parents a wedding anniversary card that was addressed to "Head of the Household".
Inside, she wrote, "who opened it?"
Sadly, it didn't reveal much, as my mother opens absolutely all the post anyway (-:...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
Very limited options on this Poll. Many families dont only have one breadwinner..The opposite of what you know...is also true0

When I was working we earned much the same. Now I'm off on long term sick I'm on half pay and benefits so he earns double what I do.*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200

We're not married, but I (female) earn more than he does.
We've been together for ages, and met at a part time job when I was still at school - so he earned more then (he was actually my manager)
Since then he's helped me to pay my way through Uni, and I've helped him when he did a career change so wasn't working for a while. I reckon it all evens out, and once he's settled fully into his new career I think he'll be earning not far off what I do.
We're in it together, there for each other - that's all that matters.Mortgage - £[STRIKE]68,000 may 2014[/STRIKE] 45,680.0 -
No vote.
On account of:

Very wise, tiger. No point in borrowing unnecessary aggravation....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0
