Who is the Breadwinner?

We earn about the same.0

When I was married it never really bothered either of us who earned most and that switched between us at times. Neither of our egos were affected negatively. I think to get a complex over who brings home the most is pointless and is rooted in old-school thinking.
All money earned was 'ours' not 'mine and yours'. Our joint income went into one pot from which all expenses, savings etc. came out. We both worked long hours, shared the responsibilities of running our home and respected that we equally contributed to our relationship financially and otherwise. The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.0 -
More importantly do you love your job? that is all that matters to us, because who the hell wants to grind day after day doing something you hate? complete waste of life. When using the housing forum please use the sticky threads for valuable information.0

I earn the money, he looks after the children and home. Both very happy with the situation. Not always like this, we did the role reversal about 4 years ago after 8 years together xWins in 2013 - Jan - Heinz No Noise Ketchup.0

I like to think of myself as pretty liberal and modern, but I am sure I would feel bad if the Wife was earning more than the Husband. But then I guess it would depend on how much more. A few thousand isn't a big difference but when it is getting on five or even twenty thousand, it's pretty hard going

Contribution in a relationship is about a lot more than money. It isn't something I even think about.Life is short, smile while you still have teeth0 -
Poll is flawed.
We earn the same... although Mrs G does buy the bread.0 -

What century are you living in? Do you still imagine that the little woman should have a part time job in a bakery, earning pin money.
I earn nearly 3 times what my OH earns but it matters not a jot to either of us. He works just as hard as I do, that's all that matters to me.0 -
What about those who aren't married0
