Who is the breadwinner in your family, the Husband or the Wife?

I like to think of myself as pretty liberal and modern, but I am sure I would feel bad if the Wife was earning more than the Husband. But then I guess it would depend on how much more. A few thousand isn't a big difference but when it is getting on five or even twenty thousand, it's pretty hard going :/
I guess it's because I would not be used to it, especially growing up in a "traditional" family.

Discuss.

Poll open for 30 days only.

EDIT: Just to add, I specifically didn't want a middle ground as many people would choose this. If you earn exactly the same, perhaps think about other income or don't vote :P

EDIT 2: Thanks to those who have voted so far. Please don't get your knickers in a twist about the wording.

I didn't want to use "The Male/Female" because that sounds worse, the same with "Girlfriend/Boyfriend". If you're in a long partnership then you may as well be married, but that's a different topic.

Breadwinner meaning "the one who earns the most" through their INCOME, mainly pertaining to employment.

Some people on this forum get far too worked up over nothing. By voting, you're not condemning yourself to that label, just a vote on a topic that will be long forgotten in a few weeks. People get far too offended at nothing these days :P

We earn the same - but there isn't an option for that. In previous years we've both been the one that earns and pays for more. Never bothered us either way.

There needs to be an option for "don't care"

My husband is the main breadwinner. He earns about 3-4 times as much as I ever did (I was made redundant about a year ago after being in the same job for over 16 years), and so we are lucky enough to be in a position where I don't have to work, which at the moment due to personal circumstances I am very grateful for.

Even if I did go back to work, I'd never have a job that surpassed his wages, so yes, my husband is the main breadwinner in our house.

I ended up earning the most, when OH stopped working shifts, do list the allowance and I was subsequently promoted .

It did cause a little hiccough, but not much as we've always talked about our money, anyway.

I was the higher earner in my marriage, and a few of my friends earn more than their husbands. Doesn't seem to concern any of them, or the husbands!

Neither of us have ever won a loaf of bread. I did win £5 on the Euromillions last night though so I could buy a loaf with that I suppose...

Both of us. It's an equal partnership.
