Your points are reset on renewal. You only retain 10% or so. You retain your status though.
You should've got to platinum before your renewal. I suggest cancelling the gym in Nov until you reach platinum... Get a fitbug?

I love going to the gym and it is the only reason I am with Pru but I refuse to be bled dry for the priviledge by Pru. Is the advice above applicable to all - if I shouId independently cancel my gym membership - I would still be paying Pruhealth but for nothing

    Lowest i've known a virgin gym £42.95.

Pruhealth Saves you a little bit early on (plus you get the insurance included and the other offers too). It will definately save you alot of money long term though! Below is a rough guide of what to do/expect.

For example if you joined now ish and joined the gym on say 1st November.

    You start on Bronze

    50 Points Register
30 points reading self help articles
    150 points Non smoker declaration
    300 Fitness assessment
    100 points Vitality review
50 points Stress test on line
    150 points pap smear

50 Healthy meal plan on line
150 points for 15 gym visits

120 points (buy three sporting goods over £5 each from ebay make sure Pru have linked your membership number with ebay).

(total points now 1000 = Silver)

November 1st - Join gym once Silver

    Month 2 add 180 points (15 gym work outs + 3 articles 1180
    Month 3 add 180
    points (15 gym work outs + 3 articles 1360
    Month 4 add 180
    points (15 gym work outs + 3 articles 1540 = GOLD
    Month 5 add 180
    points (15 gym work outs + 3 articles 1720
    Month
    6 add 480 points (13 gym work outs + 3 articles + fitness assesment = 2000 = Platinum

Month Retail Gym Pruhealth Gym+pmi Saving Combined

    7 £42.95 £45. -2.05 +15.25
    8 £42.95 £45. -2.05 +13.20

    15 £42.95 £17.50? +30.95 +97.85
    16 £42.95 £17.50? +30.95 +128.80
    17 £42.95 £17.50 +30.95 +159.75
From then on should be the same as months 17 Keep adding + 30.95 =

Also you have the many perks and savings on top of this. Cineworld, Mark Warner, Eurostar, Champneys etc

**Sorry have tried twice to straighten out the table but can't. The first figure is your retail virgin cost, the second is your Pruhealth (gym +insurance) third is your saving and forth is overall saving (combined with the previous month)

So can you put it in black and white (I really think I might have number dyslexia my head spins when I look at that chart!) How much would I pay if I just join up at virgin at £42.95, compared to what I would pay if I did it how you have shown it over one year?
Thanks for planning all that out though, it looks very complicated.

Sorry about the table, it took me a while to do and when i was doing it it was all nice and spaced out. As soon as i submitted it, it got all bunched up. I can email it to you if you want?

After 12 months you are only around £5 better off. Obviously you have health insurance and all the other perks as well to make it worthwhile. More importantly after 18 months you are £190+ better off. So at the end of year two you would be around £375 better off.

The new system SUCKS. Even if I had gained Platimum I would still be paying £8. As it is I am now going to be paying £22 per month

Can anyone tell me if I am going to be paying my Pru sub in ADDITION to this??

    Hi Woodyrocks,

I take it your inside the M25 then if you have £8 extra? Not as good as before but still good. If you get to platinum £8 per month (£2 per week) is not so bad.

Your health insurance if you get to Platinum should be around a fiver in year two (depending on age, if you have family on the scheme and if you have used your insurance).

How many points are you on and whens your renewal date?

Oh dear! Was this a Cannons? I understand that they will be all changing to Nuffield and will remain linked in with Pruhealth.
I am moving house and just found out that my nearest Cineworld is a long way away. Just after I had decided to create a film review blog! Not fair...
At least I don't have the annual Cineworld membership so I'm not losing money..

Further to my last post; I decided to go for it with Vitalitymed, does anyone know if I will retrospectively get points for the screening I have already had done?
