Pruhealth gym loophole Article Discussion

On another note I'm thinking the way this deal works is along the similar sort of lines that a mobile cash back deal works. That is they make money out of lazy people.
This is a good deal but Pruhealth are here to make money, not give everyone free gym memberships. I bet they've worked out a percentage of people will sign up planning to go to the gym at least twice a week then will get lazy and stop going. It is these people that will then subsidise the people that do stick to the plan then suck anything up to £70 a month out of them.
I do agree with you on this but I know I shan't be getting burnt as I practically live in the gym and will be saving shedloads of moneySo for every loser there will be a winner  Also you would imagine that if you are not a regular gym user you will be able to easily work out that this deal is not for you and move on to something else.

Anyone know when this offer is ending?
Also, anyone go to the Paddington branch? If so how is it? I think i might sign up to that one as the pool looks nice and big0 -
Hi,
My question is can I have two healthcare providers?
I have pre-existing medical conditions and these are covered (at least in part) by a BUPA policy.
Can I set up a Pruhealth policy as well just for gym membership? Will this invalidate my BUPA cover?
(I'm already a member of LA Fitness with a good deal, so would have to see if the BUPA deal saved me anything anyway)
Thanks
You can have two policies for medical insurance, which is classed as "double insurance". You should declare this to the insurer, as any claim you make should not be duplicated and claimed with the other provider.
I.e. if you have physio for £35 and pay up-front (some providers insist this), then submit the receipt to both one insurer and the other provider, that's classed as fraud! hehe
Many people have two policies as they may have a restrictive out-patient benefit on both policies and want to use them both to cover the treatment.
Hope this helps0 -

The original article mentions that Pru has signed a 5year deal with the gyms so it should be ongoing for a while, however whether this is in the present incarnation is anyones guess.DEBT FREE AND LOVING LIFE0 -

Can someone tell me if I've got the math right here?
My premium would be £20(ish)/month. So for the first quarter I'd need to pay £20/month premium + £25/month gym membership = £45/month? Then after then I'd have to pay £20/month premium + £0/month gym membership = £20/month?
Now say I eventually get 2,000 vitality points. This time next year I'd be paying £0/month premium + £0/month gym membership = £0/month?
Yes first paragraph is correct providing you go 2 X per week or more on average during the first quarter.
Second paragraph if you score 2000 vitality points you get 100% of this years unclaimed premiums off next years. Your premiums will however go up guesstimate 10% (maybe less) so next year you will pay £2 monthly approx for both your PMI + Gym memberships. Some people amazingly feel hard done by!!!0 -

I have come acros this problem before, basically everyoone at LA fitness should know about this offer unfortunately gyms being the way they are some have a high turnover of staff and Pru can't keep up with the training. However report this problem to Pru and they will speak to them and send out a delagation to speak with them and re-train them. They are good at Pru just tell them the situation and they should sort it out for you. I haven't a clue what healthforce is i would ignore that advice.0
