Thanks for your comments so far! I'll presume the silence on my comment of joining LA Fitness first then converting to Pru is not worth it...
...next question - so if I signed up for Pru Health today for me and my wife, how long would it take for everything to be in place so we can go to the gym and have our induction so we can use it freely?? :T0 -

I started using the gym before getting the welcome pack in the post, by arranging everything by phone:cool:
Are you going through via Quidco? There's some cashback to be had...
Otherwise Nectar is offering extra points.0 -

OK, I just checked and it's gone up to 26.0 -
I just spoke to Pru Health and they have confirmed that if you are already a member of LA Fitness then you are still able to join the scheme and potentially have PH pay your membership.
Once you have joined you need to go into the Member's Area and then there is a link for 'change of circumstances' where you can add your gym ID. Because of this I think I'll join today.0 -
I'm in my second year of Pruhealth membership and was Platinum at the end of my first year. I got 100% of last year's premium off this year's premium. The difference is £36.12 so I'm now paying £3.01 per month in total. What's really interesting though, is that I'm still Platinum this year even though I've only got 800 vitality points so far. I had assumed it would reset to Bronze at the end of my first year.
BTW I'm 31, chose Core membership only, £1000 excess, hospitals outside London to get the cheapest rate. Hope this helps,0 -

Interesting stuff, so the insurance and gym should only be a few £ a month next year for me, what a bargain.
with regards your vitality status, it probably refers to your current status, not your current 'earnings' towards next year?Cider Country Solar PV generator: 3.7kWp Enfinity system on unshaded SE (-36deg azimuth) & 45deg roof0 -
Quite a lot of people do 'swipe and go' at my Virgin gym and they say that it registers.0

It's in the T&C that Pru can deny your points if you do it though. So you might want to be careful not to be too obvious0

Hmm, but during my first year I changed status as I acquired the points, Silver at 1000 etc.
As soon as I got to Platinum, I booked my health screenings etc to get them cheap while I could. A Nuffield V5 healthscreen cost me £8 vs £440 retail, a stay at Champneys cost me £40 per night.0
