I have been a member of LA Fitness for over 2 years. At the moment my annual fee is STE 32.95 with unlimited access. I go to the gym 2+ times a week.

Has anyone tried to sign for the medical insurance alredy being a member of LA Fitness and move to the total monthly price of STE 25.00 for the medical insurance and LA (which should then be free as I understand)? Having read this trend I understand that there are big problems with LA. Could anybody advise what to do in my situation and whether it is worth it?

    Thank you in advance

Not many people have mentioned Cannon's, but I found the staff knew all about the PruHealth deal and how they should go about getting customers signed up for it, in contrast to the posted experiences of other gyms. They asked for my details, gave me a tour of the facilities, allocated my Cannon's membership number, and asked me to ring PruHealth while on the premises. I gave PruHealth my new Cannon's membership number, and in return, they gave me an authorised start date for my gym membership, which I passed back to the staff in Cannon's. So far so good, and everyone has been very helpful! :)
  • Did anyone join this scheme when you got 6 mths free gym with Pruhealth? I joined in March with this and would like to switch to the new scheme.

    Has anyone done this?

i signed up for pru health mid july for cover to start from 1st August. I've had confirmation off DD instructions from 'em but still no members pack... how long have people had to wait for members pack? i wana join the gym!!! cheers

I signed up to Pru Helath in the evening then phoned in the morning to ask them a question. Whilst on the phone they gave me my Pru Health ID and said I could take the number to a gym to start the process. By lunchtime I'd joined Virgin Active who gave me a bundle of guest passes until my membership started 2 weeks later. So I had access to the gym 13 hours after signing up to Pru Health!

Sign up process was the same as jcpren - VA phoned Pru whilst I was there and got my start date confirmed.

Got my members pack within 7 days.

I found the process to be a little confusing, I joined a virgin active gym and was the first membership that they had processed. They didnt really understand though were very nice to me about it all. Fortunately pruhealth have a great telephone helpline which is also free.

I cannot recommend virgin active enough. Ive been at the gym for 3 weeks and they are very helpful and friendly, the lifeguards even say goodbye when you leave the pool area.

The changing rooms and showers are constantly being cleaned and are just really nice, they have tv's to watch while you are getting changed and the lockers are huge. The spa area has just been spruced up and is very good.

So far ive never had to wait for a piece of equipment and the gym staff are very helpful. The clientel are generally middle aged with children and so is very laid back and uncompetitive, you end up chatting to all sorts of people! Ive seen a huge increase in my fitness over the past few weeks and this gym is a pleasure to visit (I used to belong to a gym and found visiting a real chore and so was always reluctant to go!)
  • Does anyone know if we can do a joint application and get a joint gym membership, also if in the future one of the joint applicants would be able to cancel? Or would it be easier to just to 2 seperate applications, and last one, planning on doing it through Quidco, will they pay out on 2 applications even if they are under different names?

I've just messed my application up I think. I joined yesterday via Quidco and made a joint application. What I didn't realise was that we BOTH pay the £5/month for Virgin Active.

Once cashback has been taken into account, we'd be £9 per month better off on separate policies. I've just called Pru and asked them to cancel with the view of both us siging up separately through Topcashback. Would this still track as technically I'd have already been a Pru member albeit for less than 24hours. Or would it be better to ask Pru to un-cancel my request and just take my wifes name of the policy and get her to sign up through Quidco ot Topcashback?

Have not been to the gym for close to 12 days now as I have been on holiday. Having a terrible feeling I am going to be forking out a lot of money :(

Most of us will miss days due to holidays/sickness etc. Just visit the gym on extra days to make up for it. Swipe in, have a coffee then leave. Or if you don't mind the strange looks from the reception staff, just swipe in and walk straight out again! Pru have said they only count number of visits and not how long you spend there. Only one visit per day counts though.

Also log in to the Pru Health Vitality website and check how many points you have to earn to reach Silver/Gold status. No point doing these extra visits if you already have enough points.

Thanks Turbine. I swiped in today, checked the timetable board and walked out a minute after! Might do the same tomorrow as well. The coffee route would be a great ploy but my chosen gym isn't posh enough to have a cafe lol
