Hi Woodyrocks, has your 6 months free membership ended now? Are Pru switching you over to the new scheme automatically then?

My 6 months finishes soon, but I'm not sure if i'll have to wait until March next year before I can switch to the new scheme?

    Hi Rose,

I joined up on the new offer so I am not fully informed with the T&C of the prior scheme. I know the thread has added up along the way but I know it was mentioned previously so it might be in your best interest to read through. Failing that I am confident that someone more in the know than me will have an answer for you soon.

I received a DD mandate from Pru today informing me of £25 to be debited from my account in a couple of days.

I had a slight panic and phoned them up immediately but remembered as soon as it was mentioned that there is the casual fee charged for the first 3months whilst usage is calculated.

Heads up incase anyone else freaks out upon receipt!

I received a similiar letter today.

At LA Fitness this evening I was asked to pay £48 (or there abouts), but they didn't know why once I explained the PruHealth contract.

As far as I can determine, their 'system' fails to distinguish between the user (you or I) and the payer (PruHealth), meaning I got hassled. I refused their suggestion that I should call PruHealth, given it's nothing to do with me.

I shall contact PruHealth nevertheless as I anticipate a 'row' when they try to deny me entry next time!
  • Just been looking at Pruhealth online and it won't let me choose any excess for the core plan. :(
So its either £32pm core plan with no excess or £30 Essential plan £1000 excess. Not as cheap as I hoped. :(

I'm going to hep my cousin sign up and if you go via Boots it seems to be cheaper ... http://www.pruhealth.co.uk/uk/prudential/nosessionrequired/q2a/offer.jhtml?DW_SP_NCP=1188733128441&src_id=400&_requestid=25450
  • Looks like the excess option for the core plan has just changed. Luckily I got a quote for my daughter and we were able to retrieve it today. Made about £1+ extra per month if we bought without preexisting quote for her.

ive noticed too the excess option is unavailable online for the core package.

which is annoying as i was planning to sign up this week.

Im going to use TopCashback which offer £115 cash back, but now looking at it maybe it would be better to go for the boots deal, as its only £12.50 per month with them.

New quote with Pru due to NO excess allowed online =
    £21.84 per month
    x 12 = 262
    + 3x £25 (firs 3 months gym)
    + £25 gym activation charge
    =362.08 - 115 (cashback) = 247.08 / 12
    = monthly cost £20.59

    OR
    Boots deal

    £12,50 per month x 12 = 150
    + 3x £25 (first 3 months gym)
    + £25 gym activation charge
=250 (cashback will not work with boots deal, i dont think anyway???)
    =250/25 =
    monthly cost = £20.83
BUT boots also gives 2000 advantage points which are eqivuilent to £20/.

Boots is slighty more but i dont have to worry about cashback, and bigger monthly payments

Does anyone know if this 'no excess online for core packages' is a long term thing??

    thanks
  • I just would like to check I've got this right before I decide whether I'll save money with this offer or not!

I went to the Pru health website and clicked on the calculator that works out the gym savings. I said that I would go twice or more a week and it would be single membership. It says:

Based on this information your monthly gym membership for the next quarter would be:
    £15

Does this mean it would be £15 for the first 3 months while they monitor how often I go? It doesn't say if it will be more.

    Thanks

No. It is £25 standard for the first 3months.
