    Hi Woody,

Thanks for the reply - funny how I couldn't get a straight answer from Pru about this one, knew it would be better to come on here and just ask!

I've now cancelled the DD with the bank, and rung LA Fitness who say it should *hopefully* be sorted (I wasn't that convinced to be honest but we'll see), now I have to call the Pru to get them to reapply whatever they need to do to my LA account to make sure it is paid by them instead.

So this is a WARNING to anyone doing this deal - do NOT fill out any payment details or sign ANYTHING when you get to the gym. If you do it online, you shouldn't have to do anything at the gym. If they ask you to do it, refuse and ask them to speak to their head office, or better still call Pru and get them to sort it for you.

    A.

Pru have confirmed that this is what should happen i.e. 2 DD mandates from Pru and nothing from LA Fitness.

My worry now is that LA Fitness will somehow screw this up and start sending me nasty letters

Maybe I'll send them a letter of my own to nip it in the bud :D
  • Hmm. As its fairly fast payout, might just make sure I get the quidco first and then ring up to change the excess. Thanks for the information.

I've just thought, after phoning Pru to change my excess, will I still be able to get the cashback throguh Quidco? It said on the Quidco website: "we cannot pay out on transactions that were not completed wholly online" ?

yes this is what i question to.

if i go for the quote i recieved on the phone, then sign up online via the link, i need to the homepage then reteive quote., Not get a new quote link.
and as mentioned the transaction must be completed fully online.

the next best offer is boots at £12.50 a month no cashback, which works out a little dearer than a cadhback offer.

is it worth taking the risk with using a telephone quote online, through topcashbck??
what if as a result it doesnt track?? aghhh

then i should of gone for boots deal?

    Heeellllpppppp :)

Well, I can only speak from my own experience.

I quote a quote reference over the phone, then made the application via topcashback. When I got to the point where I was asked if I had a quote reference, I put it in. It tracked fine and I am expecting £155 in late September :)
If I had a pound for every time I didn't play the lottery...

hi, thats great it tracked, but i dont see any option where they ask if u have a quote??

i followed the link, picked my gym i wanted, then the only options i have are:
    Change gym options
Get an insurance quote-which leads to a page to add all ur personal details
    Tell a friend

I dont know where i can put my quote reference? theres no option when i click through the topcashback link,,, that im aware of anyway???

    thanks :)

OK I’ll explain step by step!

    1) Click the link on topcashback to take you to pru’s “why pay for the gym” website
    2) Click pruhealth.co.uk towards the bottom of the page to take you to the main site where you can apply
    3) Click “cover choices” on the left next to the picture of the guy with the bicycle
    4) In the left hand menu, click “quote & apply”
    5) Click “retrieve a quote”
    6) Enter your quote reference
    7) Follow the steps they give you…

I joined up to Pru Health 6 months ago and got 6 months free gym membership. My free gym membership has ended now and wanted to know the following:

    1) Would I automatically get put onto the new "more you go the less you pay" scheme or would have to rejoin?

    2) If I am automatically put onto the new scheme, is my monthly fee calculated based on my previous 6 months visits or the next 3 months?

Sounds confusing so thanks for any help in advance!

No you don't unfortunately - you have to wait until renewal. I contacted Pru and was told I have to wait until renewal of the policy (March) before I can switch to the new offer.

Damn! Can I cancel the policy? Can't remember if it was a 12 month contract or not.
