Ok thanks. I think this may be a struggle as I dont fancy paying £100 for a full health check. And My doc wont do a flu jab until october time.
I think Ill aim for gold.
Ive been with pruhealth for 2 years - so I get 20% of my points rolled over. So it shouldnt be too difficult to get up to platinum with a bit more time.
*** So If I book a fitness assessment now and a basic health check at boots, will I be able do these again in September??***
Thanks for your help.
Yes, as your points are reset to 0 on your renewal date 1st Sept every year. So is everything else reset to 0 andyou can score the points again i.e. fitness assessments, non smoker declaration, stress test etc etc (everything bar the one off 50 points for registering) so its easy to score points again the next year and year after etc
Next policy year (i.e. after 1st Sept) you will start on 300 points (if you have scored 1500 getting Gold this year) you will start on Gold next year until you get over 2000 points to get you on platinum. I'd advise setting your goal to fitness assessment then having one another fitness assesment 350 points. Then if you have another 6 months + later you can score lots of extra points i.e. 200 for maintaining your fitness level.
Its your choice which you aim for. Remember that you can get £350 casback if you get to Platinum and your company renews their policy with Pru.0 -
Ok just booked an assessment at my local Virgin Gym. Easy.
Whats involved in one of these? Do I need to take my kit?
Also confirmed with Pruhealth that I can take another assesment and health check in Sept as the slate is wiped clean. And they will use the results on this fitness test as a bench mark. If there are improvements then I will get the points at the second one I will do in Sept.
Very easy takes 10 -15 mins, they take your blood pressure, BMI, check body fat, heart rate etc Involves a step test usually.
Yes i'd take your kit. You'll be offered a locker in the changing rooms (take a pound coin and your Pruhealth membership card or number).
I don't think you'll score extra impovement/maintaince points till your fitness assesment 6 months + from your fitness test in September though (you should have two fitness assesments in one policy year at least 6 months appart then you can score all sorts of extra points).0 -
ok I got my polar HRM today. Has anyone used https://www.polarpersonaltrainer.com?
I presume your average heart rate during excerise needs to be at 60/70 % of your max heart rate - in this case mine is 189 BPM.
So my average heart rate needs to read: 113 bpm at least to get the points Is this right?0 -
Hi all.
I joined my company's PruHealth 01/12/08, policy year ends 30/06/09. I've been working towards Platinum and planned to join the gym at renewal.
Today I found that my employer plans to switch to Norwich Union from 01/07/09 - so no gym.
I'm therefore looking at whether I should join the gym directly, or via Pru Health.
A few questions:
1. will I be able to take out Pru Health myself and transfer my vitality points/status? (I'm guessing not)
2. what sort of price would Pru Health be? - just me, 35, non-smoker, no medical conditions
3. how long is it before I start saving money if I want to join LA Fitness (single club - inside M25)?0 -
Rimmus, why not get a quote from the pruhealth website?
I doubt you'll be able to transfer your points but it's certainly worth asking
I believe the LA fitness membership is about £50 a month, if you reach platinum it'll be £8. According to this you'll be paying £50 a month as a bronze member so you'll probably be saving from the start. It's possible to get platinum within 6 months so you could end up saving loads by January.
I've had some worrying letters recently, they're doubling my monthly premium (nothing to do with the Gym)! I've got no idea why.0 -

Hi Rimmus,
1. Yes you can take your status with you and you roll over your points just as you would if you renewed. As long as there is no break in the cover i.e. the start date of your individual policy needs to be the same date your company leaves Pruhealth (your renewal date).
The amount of points you roll over depends on how long you have been with Pru
1 Year 10%
2 years 15%
3 years 20 %
4 Years 25 %
2. £34.78 is the cheapest i'm getting (this may be very slightly more or less as i guesed your dae of birth).
3. If you start on Platinum then £34.78 (pruhealth Premium) + £8 (gym) = £42.78 monthly. So if the gym is £50 per month usually then your saving straight away. If you can get 30% of your first years annual premium cashback £118.95 (within 7 weeks) on this from a nice broker then its double :j :j Taking the £118.95 cashback into account then its £24.87 (pruhealth premium) + £8 = £32.87 monthly total.
Next year you should be paying around £3.48 ish (Pruhealth Premium) + £8 (gym) = £11.48 ish Total monthly :beer:0 -
ok answered my own Question:
You can set the watch to show % max heart rate. So I guess as long as you average higher than 60/70% in a 30 min+ work out you get the points.
I did just noticed that you can manually add a training session to www.polarpersonaltrainer.com.
I wonder if you get the points from these sessions: say if you forget your HRM one day when out for a run? anyone know? Ive just put one in to test it.0 -
Can anyone tell me what steps I can take to reach Platinum status in the shortest period possible? I was a Pru Health/Cannons gym member around 9 months ago but cancelled and now would like to rejoin. Thanks in advance!!"A rich man is nothing but a poor man with money."0
