thanks woolly. I've emailed PruHealth, but no answer yet as to why they are doubling it. Looking at the policy document because I've been treated for cancer that may be why they're changing it for me

Perhaps he comes here to help people.

    Just a thought.

I know that might be not "within the rules".
But MPs expenses are "within the rules" but clearly morally inappropriate.
Personally I prefer to be guided by morals and conscience rather than the rules.
Perhaps that's why he's ignoring you now, cos he knows he helping people.

    Who knows.

Lisyloo have a read through the thread, PMi Specialist does help people but he also uses the PM system to send messages to people offering cash backs if they take cover through him. In particular read Quentins posts, he has pointed out to PMI Specialist that this is not allowed and if he wants to do offer cash backs to go down the correct route and get authorised by MSE.

MSE have the rules to ensure MSE remains advert free and to ensure the information MSE posts is unbiased. Imagine how MSE would become if we had a few people who sold PMI or if all the people in the insurance industry used MSE to gain business. It would completely change the type of information posted and would ruin MSE. Can you imagine how the Insurance forum would be if say crazy jamie or solicitor midlands used it to ambulance chase rather than post helpful answers to people who need help on the legal side of insurance and other legal matters. If you look at crazy jamies posts he frequently goes into other forums and gives answers to legal questions. That is exactly what MSE is about, it is not about using it to generate business for yourself.

If you read his responses to Quentin he states on a number of times he will get authorisation from MSE and even asks (More than once) how to do this.

You can see the effect the touting for business has on his posts as he only answers posts that he can possibly gain business from. There is no advice for other posters.

Like I said, if he was good at handling PMI then he would not need to use MSE to gain customers as the would be snowed under with work from word of mouth customers...

Like I said Lisyloo have a read of some of more of his posts and I think as a genuine MSEr you will change your view

I haven't got time at the moment to plough through it all, but you are definitely wrong about one thing.
He does not only help posters who are potential business.
He spent a lot of time helping me thorough the points scheme.
My scheme is paid for by my husbands employer so there is zero chance of gaining any business there.

Whilst I can agree with the principle of keeping MSE unbiased and spammers annoy the hell out of me, the above quote could not be further from the truth, PMIspecialist has helped many people throughout this thread, me on more than one occasion, despite the fact I already have cover so he has no prospect for commission.

I do think you and especially Quentin are wasting too much time and energy on this little crusade. Quentin clearly stalked PMIspecialist back to this thread after a post he left about travel insurance, I could certainly think of better things to fill my time. Sorry, but it's true.

I am subscribed to this thread as it has been very helpful and informative, I'm probably going to change that now as this is becoming very boring and tedious.

You are naive to think that the touting posts are just aimed at the post he appears to reply to.

This rogue broker needs to keep his replies on or near the front page of this thread (and the thread itself high up the forum).

Hence his cynical use of alternative board names to post something to which he can post a touting reply to when no others have recently appeared.

Not sure, my renewal is in October and its lower than its ever been at £3.47 monthly (Essential plan, nil excess, just me, i'm 33 years old).

Do you have partner and/or kids on yours?
    No. It's me only.
I'll see if i can find anything out and come back to you if i find anything.
    Thanks.
I've emailed PruHealth. Haven't heard from them yet.

Just off the phone to PruHealth. The doubling of premiums is an error and apparently this misinformation has been sent out to lots of people!

My cover is through work, and there is a massive £250 Excess.
Now ive never claimed on health insurance before and there is nothing wrong with me at the moment (touch wood)

But if something does happen, how do you make the decsion to go through private and when to push for NHS? I have no idea how much operations/checkups/scans cost.

I presume I would need to pay the 1st £250 or any treatment I have. So financially would I be better off going through the NHS for something that is quickly fixable and has no NHS waiting list. And if I do want to go private when will I know how much its going to cost?

Remember the excess is payable only once per person per policy year no matter how many different claims are made, SO IT'S NOT PER CLAIM.

If i had a £250 excess i would still claim via the usual route even for smaller things i.e. £100 consultation. Ok i know i'll end up paying the first £250 of claims in any one policy year. But if i did it the other way i.e. just paid out of my own pocket without notifying Pruhealth i could potentially end up paying the £250 then £250 excess and actually end up paying twice.

    Physio about £20+ per session
Consultations will cost between £100 and £150 typically
Scans privately can cost around £800+ for an MRI scan
Operations (including surgeons, anethatist, accomodation can cost few hundred, a few thousand or tens of thousands.
