If I got the Fitbug and a Polar HRM. Would I be able to get 15days vitality points with fitbug and 15 days with polar = poss 10 points per device? As long as I used them on different days of the month?

Was thinking of wearing the fitbug to work, As I walk a lot on a usual day (but probably wont get my heart rate up to 60% doing so)

And then using polar when running (as I want to monitor my heart anyway)

The rules state that you can only score 150 points per month via gym, fitbug and polar. You are able to combine i.e. 5 gym visits, 5 x 10 points via fitbug and 5 x 10 points via polar all points being scored on separate days. But not go over the 150 points combined limit.

This table is very handy in regards to your vitality points https://www.pruhealth.co.uk/medical/pruVitality/pdfs/vitality_points_summary.pdf look at the fourth colum down across from 'Workout - Fitbug' and from 'Workout - Polar'

Although i have been told that members have been scoring points for gym visits and fitbug on the same days and the points are not being taken off them by Pru as the glitch is their fault. They still can't go over the 150 points per month limit as far as i'm aware on this though.

Ok, just so people realise how much you can save on this deal, and get fitter and healthier, we have just had our pruhealth renewal for year 2.

In the last year we have accumulated over 4200 points, mainly gym but non smokers, some ebay, sainsburys point and a couple of fitness assessments. New monthly premium for health cover for 2 adults (late 30's) and 2 kids (under 5) - £12.50 a month!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOHOOO! :T:T:T:T

And I have just saved 40%, around £1200+ on my Mark Warner holiday, And pay just £8pm per adult for Virgin gym (thats a £94pm saving for both of us). Happy days :money::money:

    Thanks PMI good point.

My situation is this: My policy ends Sept 1st 2009. I have not joined a gym yet but will join in the next 2 months. (cannons in Richmond)

Im currrently at 430 vitality points:
    Ive done:

    no smoking declaration 150
    read 3 articles 30
    vitality review 100
    stress asssment 50
    created a meal plan 50
Reg with Member zone - 50

I ideally want to get up to platinum before joining the gym.

Am I missing anything to boost these points up? What you you guys suggest to get up to at least 1700 in the next couple of months? Im 30 yrs old male, with no medical issues.

    Thoughts so far:
    1)Im too early/late for a flu jab
2)I could book a basic health screen at boots and/or road to health - but I cant seem to find any details on where the RTH clinics are located. Or if either would do a saturday appointment. Could I do both? which is better?
3)Ive bought a polar FT40 HRM. Which I plan to use, when I go for runs.

Once I do join the gym let say this happens end of June. - Ill get 300 points for a fitness assement + 50 for achieving the goal i will set. Ill be able to read 3 more articles for 30 points. I May also be able to do a Stress assesment again. ( time in between articles is it 30 days? and stress longer?) I did all this on the 7th May.

    Thanks all.

ANyone know how much the vitality bonus is? roughly. My work pay for my single membership. I will be at platinum level at the point of renewal with no claims:

    Quote from the site"
    Your Vitality bonus

If you’re making an effort to lead a healthy lifestyle we believe you’re likely to live longer and make fewer claims. So it’s only fair that you should be rewarded for this. Your employer has chosen to reward your hard work at keeping healthy with a Vitality bonus at renewal.
Your Vitality bonus is a tax free cash amount, which is yours to spend as you wish. We calculate it based on your Vitality and claims status at renewal.
With Vitality, our unique incentive programme, you earn Vitality points for doing healthy activities. The more Vitality points you earn throughout the year, the higher your Vitality status and the greater your Vitality bonus could be."

If you renew in September your starting to run out of time. It is still possible though, allthough now you may have to follow a slightly harder, more expensive route than usual. I'm assuming its just you on the scheme i.e. no partner or kids? (would make it easier point scoring if you had a partner on the scheme).

You can have a fitness assesment at your nearest Pruhealth affiliated gym without even being a member! Its a good way to check it out too.

    Heres what i suggest:

50 Points 'Lifestyle Personal Goal' - Set it to fitness assessment (before you have one)
300 Points 'Fitness Assesment' freeat your nearest Nuffield, virgin or LA fitness
120 points Ebay purchases buy three items over £5 from the sporting goods section (not incuding postage) make sure you have tied your ebay registration in with your Pruhealths first.
600 Points Fitbug/Polar Workouts 150 points a month max for may, june, july August
120 points Reading articles (30 x per month)
100 points Flu Jab via GP
400 Points Full Health screening this will cost £100 once your on Gold

Total 1690 points + the 430 points you already have = 2120 Points You only need 2000 to get to platinum on a single basis so if you miss a few workouts or whichever not the end of the world (as long as the total is over 2000 points).

If you remain claim free because you are on a company scheme you get £350 cashback if your company renews with Pruhealth (this would be £700 cashback if you had partner on your scheme) .

Even though your points go back to 0 on 1 sept 09 you stay platinum for the next year and you then have 12 months to score 2000 points to be platinum for 1st sept 2010 onwards

You roll over points too so it gets easier.

    Year 1 10%
    Year 2 15%
    Year 3 20%
    Year 4+ 25%

Remember your nuffield gym is FREE (or £8 if inside M25) as soon as your Platinum ! + the other perks i.e. 40% off Mark Warner etc

No it has to be at a Pruhealth affiliated gym, nuffield, virgin, La fitness. Its completely free for pruhealth members.

Phone up the gym and specify that you would like to book your Pruhealth fitness assesment. Hopefully they'll know what your talking about. If they haven't been listening during training/to their memo's and don't know then tell them Pruhealth members can have a free fitness assesment at their gym and you'd like to book one. Speak to the manager if needs be.

When you go to the gym the instructor that that you meet should be filling in a Pruhealth form as you go along and he/she should fax it back to Pru when they have finished. Ask for a photocopy of this to be on the safe side.

Ok thanks. I think this may be a struggle as I dont fancy paying £100 for a full health check. And My doc wont do a flu jab until october time.

I think Ill aim for gold.

Ive been with pruhealth for 2 years - so I get 20% of my points rolled over. So it shouldnt be too difficult to get up to platinum with a bit more time.

*** So If I book a fitness assessment now and a basic health check at boots, will I be able do these again in September??***

    Thanks for your help.

Ok just booked an assessment at my local Virgin Gym. Easy.

Whats involved in one of these? Do I need to take my kit?

Also confirmed with Pruhealth that I can take another assesment and health check in Sept as the slate is wiped clean. And they will use the results on this fitness test as a bench mark. If there are improvements then I will get the points at the second one I will do in Sept.
