I am looking for private medical insurance and also critical illness insurance and have some questions.......
- Is it possible to take out Pruhealth / pruprotect directly with the pru, thus removing fees to advisers? I have some time on my hands so I would be happy to do this.
- if not, what are the cheapest and best avenues to consider?
- what other health insurance plans are worth considering (my BUPA cover is about to expire in a few days following a recent redundancy - is it worth me getting a quote from them?)
Thanks in advance
Chris
You can go direct to Pruhealth, but if you go through cashback site you will get some money back! The premiums is the same whichever avenue you go through. I went through TopCashBack but I think both theirs and Quidcos cashbacks are much lower than they used to be. There is also another avenue you could go through (look above  ) which would be more cashback and again the premiums will be exactly the same as direct with PruHealth but much better support!0 -
Thanks guys. That is very helpful.
My current intention is to use BUPA as a comparison to see what is available out there, but is there another company I should consider that may currently provide better value?0 -
TbH Chris I'd just go straight ahead with Pruhealth. I'd really really highly recommend them, the premiums are competitive and the member incentives are great- ie I pay just £19 now for a Virgin gym which is fantastic and went to Paris on the Euro* for this month for £25 return!
Incidentally the services of PMISpecialist are excellent (satisfied customer here - not at all related to him!)0 -

I think PMI Specialist is doing a fantastic job in dispensing advice, I asked advice, he replied ? keep up the good work :j0 -
Hey guys, I am a member at Nuffield in Wimbledon and although I go 3+ times a week, I appear to be wasting my money paying over £70 a month when I could make some significant savings through Pru Health.
Has anybody here been an existing member at Cannons/Nuffield and then switched to the Pru Health plan? Is it easy to do and is it a good svaing? Any info you have would be really appreciated0 -
