I'm thinking the same as luckyfool i.e. a fitbug and the health assesments.
Firstly though Hypertension is a chronic condition so you also qualify for vitality med too. So before you do anything i would advise you ask your doctor (or his/her receptionist) for a letter confirming that you have were diagnosed with Hypertension on a specific date. Pru should refund you if this does cost you any money (hopefully it will not).
Click on the following link: https://www.pruhealth.co.uk/medical/...ts_summary.pdf
This is the entire 'vitality' table AND (when you scroll down) the 'vitality med' table which you qualify for because of your chronic condition. Basically you score points the same as everyone else on the vitality table and you score vitality med points in addition to this due to your chronic condition.
So once you have sent your vitality med letter off to Pruhealth i would suggest:
I take it you have already registered on their website?
Log on to the website with your username and password:
300 points for you for registering with vitality med.
Set up your goals (call pru if you get stuck with this on their 0800 number)
Your first goal (and your wife's) should be a fitness assesment at a gym (lots of points for very little).
300 points for the fitness assesment for your wife plus 50 for achieving it as a goal
300 points for you plus 50 for achieving it as a goal AND 150 from vitality med.
150 points for your wife ticking a box online declaring your a non smoker.
150 points for you too for doing the same AND another 50 from vitality med
600 points for Glucose, Glaucoma, Cholesterol and a smear test for wife via GP
450 points for Glucose, Glaucoma, Cholesterol tests plus 50 extra for the Cholesterol via vitality med for you
You are both on 2600 points = Gold already, just 400 points short of Platinum within 1 month. You could get to platinum easily within in a month.
I can put this and more (i.e. all the way to platinum) in a table for you if you want and i have some slides with all the latest vitality rewards on too. Please email me at marcnicol@pch.uk.com of you want me to email these to you.
Hi,
This is really good i would like to join the gym, but it is not viable for me at the moment through Pru Health as i am only a bronze. What is the quickest way i can get my points up in the next 4 weeks. i noticed on the plan above involved two people, whereas on my policy there is only me. I dont mind purchasing the fitbuz if i have to, to get the other points needed.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Sorry forgot to mention i am a 29yr old male, non-smoker.
Thanks

You are not allowed just to come here and use the boards and pm system to tout for business (as you know!)0 -

In his defence, PMISpecialist is very helpful and well informed. He offers to do such things as this for anyone regardless of whether they apply through him or not.
I did not go via him but he has still been very helpful to me.0 -
Being "very helpful" is no excuse for breaking the rules and doing deals via the pm system is it?0

Look at this a little closer and look how much harm i actually causing. Prefferably with an open mind not one already made up.
This will bore some to tears and i appologise in advance.
Even if i do say so myself i feel i am extreamley well qualified to answer questions on this subject above any other (subject not person).
Why's That?
I have been a PMI (Private medical insurance) consultant for just over 10 years (two years with Norwich union and 8 years working for a completely independent brokerage) and have done little else from 8am-6pm+ 5+ days per week in that time picking up experience and knowledge on the way. Marrying insurers such as Pruhealth up with both company and individual clients confidently and compentantly as i can answering their questions and sorting out any issues/problems they may have. Holding their hands and guiding them through the potential minefield that is PMI.
I was trained by Pruhealth (amongst many other PMI providers) around their launch around 5 years ago. I remember many of us just didn't get it at first. There was too much to it, so much to take in and it was very very different to anything we had seen before. Some didn't even want to understand it and wrote it off predicting failure. It was the second time i attended one of their training meetings that it all clicked into place. I realised that there were no catch's or hidden monsters and I loved it and took out an individual scheme for myself in 2005. In line with FSA regulations i am re- trained on this product and other insurers products fairly regularly.
By purchasing the pruhealth policy myself and imersing myself in it i found this the best way to understand it and could then talk from a position of experience to clients about this, advising the best (quickest and cheapest) routes to platinum etc and tailor make it to certain individuals needs.
I was then reccomended a few years ago this site (MSE) by a friend and i love it. One day i found the pruhealth thread and found many similar minded people who loved the Pruhealth scheme but some who were unsure about certain parts of it and i found i could help people with many of their questions and problems.
It seemed that many people were joining through cashback sites i.e. Quidco, topcash etc and that thy were giving them X amount cashback and it was taking quite a long time (in some peoples mind) to get the cashback from them. Lots of people were complaining about just how long they took to pay.
I figured i get paid just under 35% commission on the individual deals so could offer people from this board 30% (more than the cashback sites) and pay in around 6 weeks. Apparently some people had been waiting 18 months via the cashback companies.
Please note I am putting my neck on the line a little bit here as if people cancel within the first year the commission is clawed back and if people do then not give me the cashback i gave them i could be seriously out of pocket (thus making some money in order to cover myself just in case a wise move).
So in my defence i say there are my cards face up on the table. I thought that this is a money saving website? If someone else could get a better deal via someone else i would tell them to go there and get the better deal.
As it is though at the moment i feel i can be a constant good source of information and help to people that have decided they are interested in this deal. Hold their hands through the sign up process and provide them with help and advice afterwards too should they ask for it. As well as get them more cashback, much quicker than anywhere else (should they decide they want to go via myself).
The people on here i have found are not idiots many have checked out the alternative deals and found none better. The majority sound like they are doing really well. Some have checked i work for the company i say i do and asked that company for my email and phone number to mak sure. I am certainly not holding a gun to anyone's head and as Stu Holmes rightly pointed out i've helped people wheather they have gone via myself or not!
So i actually feel i'm helping people get the best deal, not 'touting' for business.
I understand what you were thinking Quentin. I hope that by me laying my cards on the table you see me in a different light and that you do not have a closed mind. If not then so be it.
One thing i would like to throw back at you is if you can find a better deal i'll still still try and help people and advise them to go wherever the better deal is. Me sitting here knowing i can quite easily get people a better deal, information and all the advice and not giving it to them seems a bit stupid?0 -
look how much harm i actually causing
The Board is free from advertising, you abuse this concept by thinking it's ok to use the pm system to do deals.
All this is covered under the rules:If you think you have a genuinely good deal please contact a Board Guide for the board you’d like to post it on. If they agree with you they’ll contact the MSE Team and it will be considered. Any final decision will be that of the MSE Team. Please do not question the response with the Board Guide.
And your "touting", and abusing the pm system isn't confined to pru health!0 -
Ok, i although i feel i've helped many on here. Your right to a degree and have a valid point, i can concede that much. So lets do this by the book.
I think i have a genuinely good deal here please can you reccomend a board guide? (a really nice one prefferably)

I am looking for private medical insurance and also critical illness insurance and have some questions.......
- Is it possible to take out Pruhealth / pruprotect directly with the pru, thus removing fees to advisers? I have some time on my hands so I would be happy to do this.
- if not, what are the cheapest and best avenues to consider?
- what other health insurance plans are worth considering (my BUPA cover is about to expire in a few days following a recent redundancy - is it worth me getting a quote from them?)
Thanks in advance
