Pruhealth gym loophole Article Discussion

Hi
Other than needing to know if the cholesterol test is free or not as I cannot seem to find details on there site if it is, I nerd to know whether its possible to claim back for a test eg smear test that was done before taking out the Pru policy. PMISpecialist says it not, and yet again the missus would like it triple checked as she just had one done and its worth quite a few points.
Also - is the gym activation fee of £25 per person or per policy as we will have a joint/family policy?
Cheers

Look on the Vitality Partners page on the PruHealth site and you'll see links to the screening providers: Nuffield, roadtohealth and The Diagnostic Clinic.
If you are on Platinum you can get a basic screen at Nuffield or The Diagnostic Clinic for as little as £5, and a full screen for £25. However, if you're on Bronze or Silver these are much more expensive, and you'll probably find it's best to go for the roadtohealth basic screen because it's a flat rate of £25 for all PruHealth customers regardless of Vitality status.Operation Get in Shape

Cholesterol test is not listed hence my question. Seems that test is done at GP or a registered place but I need to factor in the cost.

Say to your GP you fear you might have high cholesterol. Can he/she please do a cholesterol test? I'm fairly sure it's fairly simple and doesn't cost anything. Then call pru and tell them which doctor you saw and on what date. 150 points (over 35's male or over 45 female only)0 -
For the love of God don't take them up on this!
I was an existing memeber of Cannons and join Pru to bring my renewal rate down this year by gaining "Vitality Points" the result should have been reduced premium and Gym fee. Wrong Wrong wrong, they won't honour the points as they are changing the scheme and I haven't been able to get discount on either, a total waste of money. STAY AWAY FROM THIS DEAL.
I can't get any anwsers from PRU, the website says one thing advisors say another, comlaints dept promise to call back and don't. Service is terrible and I am taking this up with teh Finacial Ombusman to try and get out as they have gone against express term of contract.
Its not worth it, just haggle at the Gym and stay well away from PRU it'll leave you better off.0 -
Who do you mean are not honouring the scheme - canons or pru.
There is loads of people on here using the scheme and its just changed.
Can you elaborate more?

So what is it you are trying to say?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
I don't think £1.70 a month for medical insurance, gym membership and a load of discounts is a waste of money.0

I am going to the route of extra life insurance with the added benefit of gym membership and a load of discounts, which once at plat is a very good deal I think also.0

Hmmm, don't think even my best haggling skills would get my local Cannons (the flagship City club, which is the priciest of the chain) to charge me less than the £30.56 I'm now paying (in total) as a PruHealth member on Platinum with full Year 2 discount. Standard membership is about £80 a month...
