    Hello everyone,

I've been reading these threads for a little while and would love to join in.

I've been looking after my skin for quite a while, but that's about all. I'm going through the process of dealing with my clothing, putting together a new wardrobe and generally looking a bit smarter throughout the day. I'm at home most of the time so it's so easy to be a bit more casual than I'd like.

    Morning everyone,
    welcome Katie,

Well weighed myself - not as much damage as I thought -up a couple of pounds but if I'm careful to stick to my fast days should soon get that off.

Still not decided what to do for my birthday was thinking either a day out or a family meal - am edging towards the meal.

Have bought a few new bits as i'm trying to create a casual smart wardrobe with things that can be dressed up or down. As I don't go very far usually I tend not to get use out off 'dressy' items - I'm trying to get out of the 'keeping it for best' mindset so this should suit better.

Right need to get back to my assignment.

    Enjoy your day.

Lizzie - Hope you have a lovely birthday - just do what you want to do.

In our house we used to make the Birthday Person feel really special - basically they would be King or Queen for the day. The birthday person got to do everything they liked best - they could choose their favourite foods (even if we weren't eating out), they had no jobs or chores like washing up or making cups of tea - they were waited on hand and foot, they became "Lord of the Remote" i.e. they could choose to watch whatever they wanted on the TV. When they were little they could wear whatever they chose - if they wanted to go out wearing fancy dress that was fine by me.

All of above cost nothing but made the birthday person's day.

So Lizzie - just crown yourself "Queen for the Day" :rotfl: It needn't cost much.

My DS2 will be King for a Day next month and I watched him closely in the shops yesterday trying to get some ideas for his birthday present. He'll be 28 so it's not what I call a significant birthday so won't be spending much.

DS1 will be 30 this year - we are clubbing together so he can visit Donnington and drive a Formula 1 racing car. It's a big secret - he has no idea what we are up to……

Well I've not had much time to come on here for a gossip recently but I'm having a day off so thought I would come and give you all an update.

House renos going well - although costing more than I had hoped for. They always do!!!

Anyway this morning I have been "Corporate Woman" co-ordinating the trades, ordering a skip etc. Just like the old days - only my office is the corner of my lounge and "business dress" is my dressing gown :rotfl::rotfl:

I've also finally booked a much needed hair appt for tomorrow - cut and highlights.

The good news is I am doing really well weaning myself of the Omeprazole - down from 20mg a day to 5mg every other day. Had a couple of days earlier on when I struggled a bit but I'm glad I persevered. Another month or so and I shall be completely free of them and all their unpleasant side effects.

My little desk diary has a daily quotation. Today's is

"Be ready to contribute a 'Let's make it happen' attitude".

Yep - we can do that;)

    It's up to us…….

I agree with LL, you do whatever you want on your big day. Perhaps a look at the weather forecast to decide if a day out is what you fancy. Or otherwise have a day out on your own (maybe sorting that wardrobe) and then the meal in the evening. Either way, plan a day not just a couple of hours in the evening. When is it exactly BTW?

I think you're right that only a very limited amount of dressy stuff is needed. I don't mind paying a bit more for basics that I know I'll get my moneysworth out of while things that just stay at the back of the wardrobe aren't cost effective. I'm a great believer I cost per wear.

Good to see new people coming out of lurkdom. Welcome.:)

    Hi all

Welcome to the newbies and well done to all fabbers!

Quick update from me. Started a dieting last Wednesday and I've lost 6lb in my first week, very pleased with that but a long way to go. When I've shifted my first stone I'll replace my work trousers and get some new tops. I've been in a whole team meeting today and identified somebody who's style I admire and is about the same height as me so will be taking inspiration from her look.

In the mean time I've bought a new summer handbag in a cream colour that will go with most things and is nice and smart. My toes are painted and My feet are being coated in body butter each night. I'm doing my best to get my hands looking groomed!

Sorry I haven't been posting much, sounds like everyone's doing well, and lots of other newbies so I feel a bit less new now :)
Last night I had my hair coloured as usual (I think I'm totally grey now but don't want to risk finding out lol ) and had a conditioning treatment which was lush - conditioner obviously, head massage, then sit under warm air thingy for 10 minutes. I nearly dozed off :o
It was lovely - do you think I could replicate it at home by leaving my conditioner in and wrapping a hot towel round my head? It's a bit expensive to have done often but my hair felt so soft & manageable after :)
Also what do you know about conditioner-only hair washing? Anyone tried it? Would you recommend it?
    Thanks Rx

Hello and welcome to all the new fabbers :j

I have fallen off the fabbing wagon again :o and have spent the last few days looking like an exhausted Hagrid.

Today marks a new leaf and I have had a healthy breakfast and am off to do some exercise with the family. The fridge is filled with tasty healthy things and my DD is cooking the dinner tonight which will be lovely :D

I'm much the same. I've not totally fallen off but have been away and eating rubbish so clothes feel uncomfortable and feeling jaded and unhealthy.

I'll be off shopping for plenty of fruit and veg later and then we'll have a good healthy meal tonight. While it's great to have a good social life I find the lack of veg in restaurants hard to cope with after a while. At home we have small meat portions and masses of veg but eating out seems to be the reverse and all salads seem to come with lashings of dressing. I feel much better when fats and sugars are kept strictly at treat status rather than an everyday occurrence.

It's 6 weeks tomorrow before I go on my sunshine holiday and must sort my bikini body.;)

It's gloriously sunny here. Hope you're all enjoying the Bank Holiday.:)

Just a quickie. Sorry have been awol but life is just getting the way at the moment.

Very busy helping the boys, dealing with parents' care needs and all their paperwork.

The real biggie though is that OH illness seems to have shifted a gear. Maybe not the "final furlong" just yet but he does seem to be deteriorating again - he sleeps a lot now and although he is alert enough when he is awake he does tire very easily.

Spoke to the nurses this morning. They said what I had thought. His body seems to be "winding down" and in general "he seems that he just can't be bothered any more".

I guess they know the signs. Ah well - at least he is comfortable.
