  • Thursday was much better than Wednesday, thanks all for dropping by.

Today has been a day not in school. I've deep cleaned most of the house. Our cleaner came for a couple of hours, so the total man hours is more than if I'd done it alone.

Plasterers coming tomorrow, electrician on Monday, then hopefully just the painting to go.

Hubby is now home, doing a fantastic impression of a tired, grumpy person. He's not impressed that the entire contents of his office are in our bedroom, the printer was in the bathroom ( literally the only free space for it when I cleared out the spare room/ office) and he's got carpet grippers to take up tomorrow ( hall carpet has been binned it was just too ruined) hrumpf, I'm the one who has been living with it, and I'm the one who's cleaned the entire house....

spendy day today (cake with friends& ridiculous amounts of cleaning equipment & the third instalment of the builder's bill) need to update Ynab, will add it to tomorrow's to do list. But I know I am within budget.

Lodger arrives tomorrow afternoon, so the morning is school planning, icing a cake for a community event on Sunday and more cleaning. I expect I will be removing those gripper rods myself.

  • .... I did end up taking all the carpet grippers up myself.

But, never mind, it's done now.

The builders have left the building. :j:j:j:j:j:j

Still masses to do now though....

    Choose paint (husband influence required)
    Install network points (husband required)
    Paint room
    Choose carpet (husband influence required)
Have carpet fitted (we will pay someone to do this)
Stain stairs (not doing this myself)
Then move all the stuff into the new room.

Can you spot the common theme? Yup, hubby presence required, but he is swanning it on a rock n roll gig in Paris on Until friday/Saturday/ Sunday, no idea when he is home, it depends on who is doing the next leg of the tour and whether they are going to programme the desks, or whether hubby needs to do it.

    Money wise.....

I'm still YNABing.... I've just had to up my grocery section to £200 for the month, , I admit we went a bit mad on snacks & 'entertaining food' but that needs reigning in.

Hoping for a NSD tomorrow, not got anything planned, and if anyone suggests cake out I shall invite them round instead.

Ok, really tired, taught all day today, and I need to prep some stuff for tomorrow afternoon in the morning,

    Sleep well wish.

    Hi, thanks for asking,

    Last week was 2 days,
    This week 3
Then 4 days for the two weeks after that, then back to full time in week 5,
At the moment I'm on full class responsibilities (which wasn't the idea, but is actually easier as the other option was causing me more stress) and have been told I need to pick up my management responsibilities over the 4 weeks I'm back full time. I need to be back to my full job by after half term.

It's a lot quicker than I wanted, but I had to fight for the 4 week plan at my absence review meeting. They were talking about 2 weeks then back full time.

Thanks for the link Ali, I'll have a look when I get on a proper laptop.

So, Today was a NSD.:j in fact it was a 'don't leave the house day' I slept really badly last night, woke up at 3am and just couldn't get back to sleep. So I tossed and turned till about 8, not really sleeping, got up, showered, did some chores then vegged on the sofa for most of the day.

I did some school work this afternoon, then a friend popped round for tea & cake after she had put her squiddlies to bed.

A friend also popped round to check the loft conversion for snags, so I'll get in touch with the builder on Thursday to get those sorted before I pay the final bill (hubby away of course)

Tomorrow is a work day, inc staff meeting, but I'm looking forward to this one, should be interesting. Then nothing planned in the evening. I really should do something exciting as I've only got three non working phased return days left. But to be honest I'm just too tired.

Hope everyone has a lovely day on Wednesday.

  • Today has been a good day.

My class are lovely, and being year 1, they still haven't lost the creativity of the child initiated eyfs approach, so this morning, the children spent 20 minutes planning Friday afternoon's activities.... A really lovely plan. I'm going to run with it, and move Friday afternoon's plan into next week, and save me some time.
The rest of the day was good too, up to date on marking and no work tomorrow, so can spend some time planning lessons for next week.

Then, this evening, the techie widow's club met for a wander and a drink. Followed by late night bake off watching with homemade creme egg brownie cake & tea, the only way to enjoy bake off.

But now it is late and onto financial matters, a low spend day £1.85 on a drink in the bar, and due to the pay stations being replaced, free parking.

    A great day.

Hope every one else feels the same.

    Wish

    Impossible!

Internet search for 'instructables creme egg' it tells you how to make the fondant & make it up into eggs, I just make the fondant. You need corn syrup, some T*sc* stores stock it. I rang my local one and they tracked it down for me. It's usually in the Kosher isle.

Then make your preferred brownie recipe, melt chocolate on the top and pipe the two colours of fondant into the melted chocolate, it goes a bit squishy, and looks a little like fried eggs. Eat small pieces only....

Re: boredom - 'my delays are still in Amstersam, not got anything to do' boy, has he got some stuff to learn.

    In today's financial news....

A few low spends today, some of which I will get back from work. Feeling a little fed up that the mortgage isn't reducing as fast as normal, but I'm trying to get 'a month ahead' in YNAB terms and I can't do both. Not doing brilliantly well, but I will get there.

    Work tomorrow, then the weekend...

We can do it people, Friday is calling
