I need to start thinking about going to bed, but I don't have the energy to climb the stairs.

Hope you already have your jimmyjimjimjams on :D
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

  • This weekend consisted of:

Moving into the loft office..... It is amazing, lovely and practical all at once. I love it. I've measured up to get some shelves from the blue & yellow pleasure palace this week....

    More wallpaper stripping for hubby

    School work

    Cooking

And there I was thinking weekends were for resting.....

  • Blue & Yellow pleasure place I love that! We always walk out of there with a couple of the blue bags they sell for 40p. They have become our washing bags & shopping bags.

  • Thanks for dropping by Smiffy, we use their bags for washing, the canvas bit for the tent (how comes it never goes back in the bag it came in?) all sorts of tuff, the little ones are good for a5 exercise books too.

Food shop day today and another £10 on a supermarket savings card ready for Christmas, so far for Christmas savings I have:
    £450 cash
£135 supermarket savings scheme/ vouchers that act like cash
    £30 John Lewis vouchers
A few pressies already squirreled away

    Going well I think.

A bit of YNAB catching up to do, but I'm down to my last few days of the free trial, so need to get my credit card & computer in the same place to purchase, then sort out the spends and I'll be sailing. Hubby should put his housekeeping money in this week, so I should feel positively wealthy... Not!!!

Started on my bake off final party contribution today, nothing too grand, as I've really not got time (the contestants get 5.5 hours for their show stoppers.....) will put the chocolate layer on tomorrow night, ready for Wednesday.

A couple of big projects to do for work now, so will need to crack on with those before I get behind.

Have a lovely day tomorrow people.

    Good night

  • I've purchased YNAB - have to keep using it now. It's $60 but has gone through on the credit card at about #35 English pounds (can't find the symbol on this keyboard)

Still need to update it with some spends, but that will have to wait until tomorrow, I am still exhausted.

    Low spend day today.

Lots of work done and it's got to be nearly bed time right???

THe electrician has been in today to chase some cables in the hallway and fit a lightswitch right by the front door. That is going to make a massive difference to us now that it's winter.

Found out tonight that hubby is not working next week. So I guess he'll be carrying on with the pre-plastering prep. Will be nice to have him home.

    Sleep well everyone

  • 5 of us gathered for a bake off party, we all made something from a bake off programme to share whilst we watched the show. I won't spoil anything for anyone.

But our cakes & bakes were definitely showstoppers and not a soggy bottom in sight. All went down really well, and the left overs won't last long in the staff room tomorrow.

Nsd today, which is a good job as I've had some unexpected expenses recently and the budgets are looking tight. We are by no means brassic, but our spends budgets are looking a little dire, so may have to do some shuffling. Hubby is waiting to be paid before he can put house keeping money in the account, but at least I know I have to have an incredibly thrifty week, thanks to ynab, rather than seeing that the bank accounts are in positive figures and spending without thinking.

Two more days at work, then a trip to the blue & yellow pleasure palace (that spend is ok as it's in a ynab budget pot) some training on Saturday then school work, planning and attempting to get washing dry.. Welcome to autumn one and all.

    Have a fabulous Thursday

I know the feeling! All my YNAB pots seem to be empty except for the holiday one, as we're off on holiday on Saturday for a week. The second half of the month will have to be very frugal indeed! Although OH hasn't spent any money on groceries yet this month so he can pick that bill up. Also it's my birthday in a couple of weeks and my dad usually sends me a cheque for £50 (bless him, even though I'll be 35 he still sends me a little something). It would be good to put that towards a cut and colour though as I'm going really grey now.

I logged onto facebook this morning and the first thing I saw was someone posting the result of GBBO, damn them! I'm in France at the mo so can't watch it until I get back. Grrr. What did you bake?!

  • Letting the cat out of the bag is just rubbish Worry - that's why I deliberately kept yesterday's post vague about it.

I made a millionaires shortbread - it needed to be something quick as I'm working full time & still have planning and marking to do in the evenings. - the left overs are indeed gone…. school teachers love cake.

Not a NSD today - my car tax renewal came through, but I can't really complain as it's only #30 for the year - and it doesn't come out of my account until the 3rd November, so I may claim today as a NSD anyway.

Was taken out for dinner by the lodger's father (obs lodger and her boyf were there too) - which was lovely and have even got an hour or so of work done since we got back. - Just finishing off and shutting down all the computers & devices.

Tomorrow is the visit to the blue and yellow torture house - and then it's the weekend hip hip hooray….

  • The weekend started well, let's hope it continues.

Friday night was a visit to the blue & yellow torture chamber.
Book shelves for the office got, made up, and filled. So just a bespoke set of shelves for the end wall to go ( and a bit of tidying up of mess)

Saturday required a long lie in ( due to a busy week & much wine whilst assembling the flat packs) then I finally got the phonecall to say the lodger's wardrobe had arrived at the shop, so we popped out to pick it up. We put the first bit together together, then I headed out for a training event, when I got back, there was just the doors left to attach.

I paid the balance of the wardrobe with the lodger's rent money, so now there are just 3 more weeks of rent money to cover all the costs associated with setting the room up for her. After that I'm going to rebuild the rainy day fund, then throw the rest at the mortgage.

Today will be housework & school work...the aim is to be finished by 9pm tonight, so I can watch our girl in peace before bed.

    Have a great week

  • Today has not been a nsd as a couple of the subscription services I use for school were about to expire, they save me lots of time, so it's worth paying out for.

Other than that it's been a school work day.

Hubby has gone out for a beer with the boys and lodger has gone away for work, so it's just me and the cat. We're about to snuggle down in bed and pray that Monday, and needing to go to work doesn't come too soon.

    Keep smiling one and all

    Wish.
