  • How I wish for a lazy Saturday...

But today is not the day, I've got home from the school fayre, and should be getting ready for a wild night out on the town, but I'm sat on the sofa watching the tennis, and I may have slept through most of the second set in the Ward v Poposil match, pleased he's just won the third set and I saw it......

I've been playing with ynab, which is one of my many hobbies, if I can find another £35 from somewhere this month, I can pay £500 of our mortgage capital. So, that's my little challenge for the rest of the month. I normally manage £300 a month, so the extra £200 before I get my increased wages due to not having my student loan to pay is a bonus I hadn't expected.

Hubby goes away on Monday for a month and the lodger on Wednesday, they are going to be working on the same event, so grocery bills will be less. I've already allocated the money I will save on not having milk delivered (which includes a loaf of bread and 6 eggs a week)

Lodger should put her rent money in this weekend too, but that is earmarked for a new laptop. I'm not sure how much longer she's going to be with us for, she's now got a proper job (rather than freelancing) so is looking to get her own flat. We never took her in for financial reasons, more because she needed somewhere to live in a city whilst establishing her business (or looking for a proper job) And after my stress and anxiety issues that resulted in me taking time off work last year we realised that coming home to an empty house each night was not helping my mental health. Not sure how I'm going to manage when she does move out, but I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. It will be nice to have our spare bedroom back though, and it will be easier for family to come and stay.

So.... Here's to finding £35.00 in the next 3 weeks...should, be easy right?

  • As we are not allowed a count down on the Staffroom notice board anymore I'm going to use my post titles to count down.

Why do the weekends go so quickly? Could be an alternative title. I can't believe it's Sunday night again, where doe those precious hours go?

So, an update on the weekend: friday night is tidy night so house work done, washing sorted and various other bits and bobs, which normally involve me falling comatose into bed very early.

School fare on Saturday- spent £1 on a burger and that's it. (& £1.78 at the shop for 8 bottles of water, but that will keep me going fo a few days)

Saturday night was a meal out for a friend's Birthday, it was lovely. The last time we went into the city centre for a meal with friends and a proper night out must have been Christmas. Food was lovely, 3 bottles of wine (between 9) and some era for the boys led to a £35 each bill, which is a lot in money saving terms, but hubby paid from his account, so it doesn't affect my mortgage free situation as I didn't know that money existed. Afterwards we went to a bar, two rounds of drinks cost my £20 from our spending money category, but we had a truly fantastic night. Taxi home was reasonable as we all live very close, so just 1 taxi drop off point.

Today we have given the cellar its annual tidy up, not much to do really, just putting things back where they actually belong. Hubby has masses of empty boxes that his gadgets came in, no idea why he won't throw them out, but he won't so I'm stuck with them. This afternoon we've had a house full, various friends have been visiting other people and made a stop at ours for a brew before heading home, or to their hotels as they are working here this week. We had a BBQ with some of them, so a bit of spending on BBQ food, but not an expensive day.

Need to sort out for work tomorrow now, hang the last load of washing up and attempt to sleep through the night. It's much cooler now, so I'm thinking sleep may be easier to find.

Have a great week one and all

    Wish.

  • The last couple of days have been really spendy. Lots of new clothes, (for the hols, needed as I didn't buy anything last year due to being off work) family birthday pressies, baking ingredients and other bits and bobs, it's all in ynab, and all covered, so not too much to worry about, need to find that extra £35 though....

  • There are only 6 days until the end of term, but I am so very tired and am just not sleeping at the moment.
Because I'm tired I bought rubbish tea at the shop on the way home, so need to unable, must stop doing that.

And that is all my news, what a boring life I lead.....
